My husband started Xtandi about 2 months ago after Lupron starting not working. PSA went down 150 points first month, then went up 19 points last time went down 12 points. Does this mean Xtandi is not working for him? We were expecting it to go down a lot. Anyone else have this experience?
Thanks in advance for answers.

Sounds like Lupron is working but not stopping aPca. Adding Xtandi is helping too. Some fluxtuation is not unusual.. Stay the course and we all wish you luck with treatments... You have lots of other options down the road if needed...
I wouldn't call that a normal fluctuation, But nothing to panic about... Give it a little longer and see if it stabilizes. With my PSA climbing 3 times one month and 4 times the next, I am concerned and hoping for a drop.. Next Fridays blood work will tell me if I should get a little more concerned and go back on Xtandi which was failing, but slowly.
Once again thanks for reply. Today, my husband has Dr. appointment. We are hoping for a drop or at least for PSA to stay the same. Wishing you a good outcome on your blood work.
I'm not a doctor so take this lightly. The way I see it, there is a sort of tug-of-war going on in your husband's body between the cancer tumors and the therapy. It could be that some of the tumors are resistant to the therapy, and therefore the PSA rises. My thinking is that the quantity of cancer cells is so great that the therapy is not able to overcome the growth. My advice is that he needs to reduce the volume of the cancer, by surgery or radiation or maybe chemo, or increase the amount of therapy. Or possibly he can reduce the cancer rate of growth with lycopene intake or heat applied to the tumors.
I did not read that he continued with his Lupron. Did he continue with Lupron and add Xtandi? I have used Xtandi plus an Lupron alternate for 2 years with good results.
