Hey guys, anyone here on Wellbutrin? Doc prescribed it for me to try and combat ADT fatigue, anybody have any experience with the stuff? Just took my first dose this morning.

Thanks!

I've been on it for years (decades actually) for other medical reasons. Can't say if it helped with the ADT fatigue - It might have gotten worse if I didn't take the Wellbutrin, but since I was... dunno. I can say I don't think there were any bad interactions with it.

It is energizing. Check your blood pressure since it may increase it.

I don't really know if it helped me with the fatigue, but it did a lot for depression that Zoloft wasn't doing. cant recall the last time i laughed, but at least i don't feel like crying every day. unless i look in my pants that is.

I started taking wellbutrin before cancer. No effect on the fatigue but then again I know someone who was prescribed it for something else and stopped taking it because they couldn't sleep at night. YMMV

I’ve been taking a low dose Wellbutrin as well as a low dose of Cymbalta for many years prior to PCa. I have not changed the prescriptions and all seems to be ok. I’ve also heard the Cymbalta can potentially help with hot flashes which I have never really had an issue with since being on various types of HT over the years. It was recommended to me to take the Welbutrin in the morning one hour before eating.

I have been taking it for years. I started at 150 2x day, but recently increased to 200. I don’t feel any effect at all, really, but my wife says I’m much easier to deal with. That’s good enough for me.

It was prescribed for my depression, but I don't think it did anything. I later got on another drug (Viibryd) that was very effective.

I was on it for a while years ago. It was during the great recession and I was being treated badly at work and obsessing over that. I had no problems with it. There are times when I wonder if I should consider getting back on it.

I'm way overdue (as someone here said with a deadpan response: "When diagnosed with stage 4 cancer your first prescription should be for a anti-anxiety, anti-depressant) I think and it seems Wellbutrin might be a good choice for me. Reduce depression and anxiety and for some reduce ADD symptoms which I have as well.

I took that years ago before cancer to stop smoking. Seems they found out people taking it for depression had side effects. They didn't want to smoke anymore. Worked for me

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'll give you an update in a couple of weeks and let you know how it worked for me.

Appreciate all your input!

Going to pubmed, I found evidence of Buproprion effectiveness for ADT and chemo, fatigue and depression, and useful for related sexual disfunction, as well as weight gain. It can also be used in combination with some ssri's.

Its a moderately effective antidepressant for some that usually does not cause fatigue. But doubt it will help much in combating ADT etc fatigue. Dexmethylphenidate is much more effective (generic Ritalin), just 5 mg. If you also “”have a hard time focusing” the doc may be more likely to agree to prescribe it.
