I’ve been on atorvastatin for a long time. My cardiologist wants to switch to rosuvastatin for better cholesterol control. I’m aware of atorvastatin being one of those statins with potential for slowing advanced prostate cancer. Is rosuvastatin in that same category?

I am curious if your doctor increased your dose of atorvastatin to 80mg prior to suggesting Rosuvastatin
Snuffy Myers switched me to rosuvastatin about 7-8 years ago. His main reason for doing so was because it didn’t interfere with the ADT drugs I am on. It works well and my cholesterol levels have been excellent. Snuffy felt it important to control cholesterol levels not only for cardiac health but to keep LDL levels low. He said that prostate cancer will begin converting LDL into dihydrotestosterone when starved of testosterone from ADT.

I take omeprazole, a stomach acid reducer for GERD/reflux. I couldn't tolerate rosuvastatin. It completely negated the effects of omeprazole and left me dealing with nasty heartburn. I switched to atorvastatin and I am fine.
omeprazole is very bad for you. It can cause cancer and heart disease, as well as damage or destroy the gut microbiome.
I don't have a choice. Without that stomach acid reducer I'd be suffering from horrible heartburn and reflux that could cause cancer of the esophagus. Popping tums day and night doesn't work. Where'd you hear all this negativity about omeprazole? I've been taking it for years and will continue to do so.
LDL control is more important than anything else. Remember that 30k men die annually of pca (in the US), while heart disease almost 400k.
