interesting
This isn't new. Coley was curing cancers in 1890 by injecting bacteria directly into the tumor:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
Bear in mind that there was no imaging, antibiotics, etc. then. By the time a cancer was detectable, it was generally enormous.
Here's an article on the tumor micro-environment that describes the conditions that may allow a viral or bacterial infection to 'go to town' in a tumor: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... Since the tumor needs to suppress the immune system to grow, the tumor has little or no defense against infection.
The accepted cure for metastatic melanoma is "T-Vec" which is engineered virus they inject directly into tumors. I find nothing to indicate there have been any studies on T-Vec used intratumorally for prostate cancer. All of us here know painfully how easy it is to get a needle into a prostate cancer.
There is also a Netherlands company trying an intratumoral engineered virus for PC. When I last looked, it was only available to Ontario residents. The initial results were looking very promising. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/250...
