Has anyone tried tried this so called miracle supplement? I have a friend with PC who swears by it, but I'm always reluctant to believe anything these days.

I believe this is a related supplement. Smurt will know when he sees your post.

I posted a very similar question a couple of months back on here and got very little response. Most on here are firmly routed in the mainstream medicines world where treatments have to have been through an RCT before they're worth consideration and I can understand that position. However, there is what appears to be some sound science behind Salvestrols and it was discovered and developed by reputable professors at Universities including the inventor of Zytiga. There is an ebook about it you can buy on Amazon and videos on Youtube by one of the team, Dr Burke.

I keep an open mind about such things and given I have terminal cancer, I'm prepared to give something that looks credible a go so I've been taking Salvestrol Platinum for a couple of months now. I'm also on ADT and have no idea yet whether Salvestrol is doing any good or not but will persevere for now. I guess time will tell.

Does your friend have any personal experience of positive results from the Salvestrols or is it too early/complicated to tell?

He basically is giving it credit for keeping his PSA really low.

For how long and what other treatment has/is he having? Does he have any scan results following Salvestrol use?

is he also doing SOC treatments,; ADT, Zytiga and radiation? or just Salvestrol?

I haven't talked to him in months, but I know he was on ADT, not sure about the others.

My approach is to follow the SOC ( see my profile for info) that we know will buy us time but also to take other supplements in addition to try to slow progression. If you are not doing SOC and doing supplements in lieu of treatment I think you are taking unwarranted risk with an unknown potential for benefit. Not a good bet for this betting man.

So try it for a few months and get a PSA assay. Some supplements have the ability to clear PSA out of your blood fooling you into thinking it is killing off the cancer while the cancer is actually progressing. Turmeric does this.

I am a bit sceptical about the brand shown. Salvestrol may well be good stuff but how much does this supplement have in it?

The description says "A proprietary blend of polyphenols including citrus bioflavonoid, grape seed and pumpkin powders, Salvesterol Platinum 2000 provides the highest potency Salvesterol product available."

My understanding is that plants produce salvestrols to defend themselves when they are attacked by fungi etc. So how do they know the supplement contains much salvestrol? How is it measured?

Also I noticed that "Salvestrol" seems to be the registered trade mark of the supplement. Is this like saying its just a name. Its not what it consists of.

always good to be suspicious of proprietary formulas that promise unique benefits.

The Salvestrol points system is explained in the eBook available on Amazon and in some of the youtube videos - there are lots of them.

Thanks. I'll have a look at this info.

In addition to the research already mentioned, a search of Pubmed for phytosterols in general yields many studies bearing on many different cancers including Pca. These can be complex molecules having a variety of activity across a broad array of cellular functions. The underlying complexity of cancer, what induces it, why it progresses is not well understood. That these plant compounds, found in many foods, might interact with the processes that initiate or promote cancer is perhaps not a stretch and many researchers are looking for clues in functional analysis of these interactions. Here's to hoping they find something.

In the meantime, naturally derived supplements containing such, can be researched on sites like examine.com for what is known about potential side effects, drug interactions, etc. Phytosterols are clearly powerful and bioactive, otherwise they wouldn't be the subject of so much research. Taking them might be of benefit especially if they don't cause any major harmful side effects.

Is there a relationship to resveratrol ?

Not to hijack a thread, but can you tell me about melatonin. I take 10 mg to help sleep. I have pending SRT and ADT. (see RO next week for final plans). Downfall to it? Not taking it for any PCa benefit.

Forgive me if I’m misunderstanding your point here, but comparing a percentage reduction with a percentage increase doesn’t make sense to me. The maximum reduction can only be 100%.

lokibear0803

OK, I didn’t realize you were talking about a BAT context.

lokibear0803

Uhhh….maybe. I’m not sure biology cares much about the math. I wish you luck with it, regardless. Interesting experiment.

Your results are fantastic - bone density up, PSA largely undetectable, and MO who’s bored. Keep on, brother.

wrt a different approach for the math…you’re asking a software engineer who, when PSA is rising during off-cycles of IADT, tries to predict things with best fit curves. I’m sure I don’t need to tell ya that my approach doesn’t work.

Sounds like you’ve got things under control. Continued best of luck to you.

I don't usually say this because some people don't want any sympathy but I feel sorry for you.

You have been grabbing at straws lately. You have a fantastic MO. You really should discuss these things with him.

I have a fantastic MO also and my son and I were discussing this the other day and how when the end comes we won't have any regrets as to who I was seeing and how I was treated.

lol!!!nThank you for the sympathy! However, I do not need that! I am the wife of an Amazing husband of 39 years. We are strong believers! I am simply gathering every bit of info/knowledge I can! Which for me is Never enough … and I won’t stop.

I’m sorry if my questions bother you.

Please disregard if so.

Good for you. I hope there was no offense. Your posts have always caught my attention. Good posts on treatments etc.

Your questions/posts don't bother me. I'm sorry it got interpreted that way.

I wish the best (which I think is what gets me in trouble like this lol).
