Fentanyl patch, 25 micrograms per hour. If you want to start OTC, you might try IcyHot patches with lidocaine.

My father had ten radiation sessions and it worked a couple weeks after the radiation. He was dealing with sacral fractures.

I have had 10 fractions of IGRT as well for my L4 vertebra. Seems to have worked already. No more pain. At least as of the last 15 days or thereabouts. Cheers !!

my daughter suggested probiotics, i started on um and had instant relief , my pain must have been from something other than all the mets i have. i'm thinking it may be worth a try for others, reasonable price + no side effects that i know of

Probiotics when you have any disease are worth it. What company do you use. I have to get for my mom with cancer. Yes both parents have cancer now. What brand worked for you. For my body I use pb8 and digestive advantage.xo

i don't know which brand is best so i bought 3 different one at costco and take an alternate one each day

I don't know that they work that fast that switching every day will help you find the one that is working or nor working. I would try a week each.

i was thinking by rotating i would gain from all 3

My mistake- I thought you were trying to find the best one.

I've used cannabis oil with good response on lower back pain. Five drops twice a day. Works well for dull pain and feels good to be away from synthetic painkillers.

I was left with perineal pain after brachytherapy followed by a salvage LRP. After trying a range of painkillers, I now take Pregabalin twice daily. Works wonders.

Gabapentin is for neuropathic pain. The dose that works varies from person to person. I know people who take three times a day with zero side effects. I'm a person that gets rate side effects so I limit myself but if spinal nerve pain it helps. All pain is nerve pain, but I mean nerve impingement numbness tingling. Xoxo wishing you pain free days ahead

My Onc. gave me Tramadol (50 mg) , doesn't work too good. Aleive works better for me.

Gabapentin does work well for neuropathic pain, but for me the side effects were pretty bad. It messed up my thinking too much and my wife asked me to please stop the use. I did, and went to doses of 600mg of Ibuprofen along with 1000 mg of acetaminophen 4 or so times a day. It worked pretty well, but I hated thinking about what it was doing to my kidneys and liver.

After I developed some chronic back / hip / groin pain, and some shoulder pain (only arthritis showed in my scans for those areas) I started using marijuana (street) which helped me sleep despite the pain. Now I can get good, legal MMJ here in Florida, and it works well. Not covered by insurance, but not too expensive, and there are programs for patients that need financial help.

Right now I take a medium dose of 1:1 THC:CBD about 90 minutes before I plan to turn out the light. Then about 30 minutes before lights out, a few vaporizer puffs of a basic THC oil, and at lights out, a couple puffs of a strong THC with good sleep inducing ability. That one stays by my bed all night and gets used as needed for getting back to sleep. All of this gives be good sleep and basically no pain. It also helps anxiety, etc.

tl;dr

Gabapentin was not good for me, but MMJ works well. YMMV.

I use generic Tylenol 650 mg Arthritis Strength 8 hour timed release tabs available OTC. I take one at bedtime, 8 AM, and sometimes another during the day. I have had hip metastases for 7 years now. Lower back pain is often muscular and be stopped by doing 3 things. 1. Never sit in stuffed furniture (Like a couch) instead use a chair with arms and let you buttocks stick out the back. 2. do not use your weakened back muscles to swivel in the automobile to get in and out of car. Instead use part of the car to help you. 3. Never let your lower back slide forward while you sit. Instead keep your but hole lined up directly under your spine. So only sit properly, or stand up, or lie down. I no longer have daily pain.

Not sure if you had scans to make sure there is not a tumor in the area that is causing pain. If there's no tumor there, then the above all seem like good options to try. But if there's a tumor - as someone mentioned above, spot treatment with radiation could be a good idea. My husband has had spinal mets since the start, and the RadOnc said, when they cause pain is when we can treat. So - he's had two treatments to the L4 region, and just recently to both hips. he has only had 5 refractions each time so there are not really bad radiation side effects. His skin has been a tiny bit sensitive (rad burn but really mild) and he gets a bit tired the beginning of the week afterwards.

We have scans scheduled for Tuesday

One way or another, I hope you get some relief from your pain.

Good luck with getting it passed and implemented. It takes a long time. I hope the bill introduced in the Senate to decriminalize possession passes.

Just got the scans back and he has mets in rib cage both sides, back and leg. Have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow and consult with radiologist. Dr recommends radiation treatment for pain. And to start Xtandi and Zytiga
