When I got my vasectomy back in 2000 the surgeon told me one of the possible side effects is prostate cancer.

I didn’t think it was anything to worry about.

Question: is this association without causation?

Question: how many of us warriors got a vasectomy? How much time between vasectomy and diagnoses?

For me it was 13 years

Interesting but evidently not definitive that vasectomy increases risk of PCa.

ConclusionsOur meta-analysis found a significant association between vasectomy and the risk of any, mainly localized, PCa. However, the effect estimates for the association between vasectomy and PCa were increasingly close to null when examining studies of robust design and quality. When we limited our analysis to studies adjusted for PSA screening, the association remained significant only for localized disease, but not for aggressive and/or advanced PCa. Future studies are needed to prospectively assess the possible causality between vasectomy and PCa, with attention to potential residual confounders that were not taken into account in large cohort studies.

vasectomy at 30yrs 1990 , stage 4 diagnosis 2018 at 57yrs

I got a vasectomy in 2014..I immediately felt something wasn't right, but could never figure out what it was. Dx Dec 2019 PCa with PSA 300 in early 2020

There ia a rough approximation of the percent chance of having Prostate cancer at autopsy at older ages. So, if one is 80, the chances that there is a focus of Prostate Cancer present is around (likely a little less than) 80%. If one lives to 100 the odds they have a focus of Prostate Cancer is a little less than 100%. Given this situation, It would be quite hard to determine if vasectomy was or was not contributory & if contributory a reasonable answer with scientific support as to how this was contributory would need to be made ...... I look forward to anyone's knowledge of research findings on this
