Meaning of SHBG

After visiting my oncologist yesterday for my 3 monthly checkup, my Testosterone level was shown to be <0.5 L and my SHBG was 48. After almost 7 years since metastatic diagnosis and treatments of radiation, chemotherapy and ADT (6 monthly Eligard) since 2016, I have not had my testosterone levels tested until now. I am not sure what the above results mean. Would be pleased to hear any input about what this. My psa has thankfully returned to <0.01 levels since my cancer came back on my T10 vertebrae early last year. The SBRT radiation has obviously done it’s job!!

Almost undetectable T and extremely low PSA...both are very good signs. Based on your PSA...in general...mets keep appearing and disappearing. Mets are not permanent !

Sex Hormone Binding Protein is only important is you are not using ADT and if you are not trying to keep your T level low.

Since there are many different measures to report this, you can make sure your correctly understanding what the measurement means. Australia measurements report this differently than in the US.
