I am pasting what I've posted in the facebook groups. Maybe someone can give me some insight. I'm posting for my husband.
I feel like my hubby can't catch a break. I don't know if we need to try seeing another oncologist or if it's just how his body is reacting and there's nothing we can do about it.
He was diagnosed in Sept 2020 with stage 4 G9. PSA was only 37 and he had mets to spine, pelvis, and lymph node in pelvic area.
They did radiation on his pelvis, then did radiation on his spine. In Jan 2021 they started chemo and he did 6 rounds. His PSA got down to 3.04 but by Nov 2021 it has jumped back up to 7.28. They were also doing Trelstar injections every 3 months.
In Dec 2021 the oncologist started him on Zytiga/Prednisone. At the end of Jan and into the beginning of Feb he had radiation done to his lymph node in the pelvic area. They did a PSA reading in March and it was 9.00. They said it could be skewed from the radiation so they did another reading on May 6 and it was 7.22. Oncologist was happy to see it going back down again. But she said his testosterone level was not where she wanted it to be and she switched his hormone injection to Lupron. Today he went to get his injection, weirdly its not been a full 3 months yet, but even so they did his PSA reading and it's jumped back up to 12.98.
He's only been on Zytiga for 8 months and we haven't yet seen it at undetectable levels and now it seems as if this treatment isn't even working anymore. I know it's different for everyone but I had such high hopes when he started this treatment because of all the good results I've seen from others who are doing it.
I hate cancer!
