NEXT STEP IMRT

Just wanted to give an update on my treatment. Everything seems to be tracking along the same lines as we have discussed. Wanted to thank Tall Allen for the information provided. It has really helped me in talking with my Cancer Team. Knowing what to expect and being able to actually discuss my treatment plan and understand what the Dr's. are talking about helps me remain calm and keeps me from worry. I know God is in control and He is with me through this tough season in my life, and no matter what the outcome is I am at peace for He is sovereign and will be my strength.

7/24/22 - Had DEXA Scan.

Lumbar spine: The composite L1-L4 T-score of 0 is 100% of expected peak and within the range of normal.

Proximal femur: The T-score in the left femoral neck of -0.2 is 98% of expected peak and within the range of normal.

IMPRESSION: NORMAL bone mineral density. See values above.

7/25/22 - Met with the RO to discuss RT treatment plan. I'm scheduled to go in on 8/2/22 for RT simulation and will start 38-39 IMRT treatments on 8/8/2022 5 x week for 8 wks. Not excited about the RT, but I'm sure things will be fine. I'm also scheduled to talk with my Uro Oncologist on 8/3/2022 about starting either enzalutamide or abiraterone + prednisone. Plan is to hit it hard up front to delay BCR as long as possible.

7/27/22 - PSA 0.01. T - 11.

All the best GMan-62! I did IMRT as well. I recommend that you exercise daily before the treatment, this helped me a lot. Running/walking and weight lifting. When you do it in the morning, it will be easier, after the treatment I was very tired after some fractions. Also look at your diet, we had somebody consulting us before the start. My side effects were mild and gone four weeks after the RT, wishing you the same or even better. Some people have no side effects at all.

Hi GMan.-62. Just landed last week. But um ready to battle. My son is supposed to do the same thing in a month. I like your plan. And “I love it when a plan comes together.” I wish you the best. I hope you live to be an old man, like me. Let's kill this beast so we can get off this Island. Papillon2

Hello Papillon2,I'm with you. Got to fight the beast as best we can. I'm sorry to hear both you and your son are having to fight the same beast. Now that I've been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, I've told both of my sons to start getting annual tests at age 40. It sounds like since I have advanced prostate cancer, they are at higher risk of getting it themselves and if they do, I want them to catch it as early as possible so they don't have to go through what I'm going through.

Good luck to you and your son.
