My father passed this morning after a 5 year battle with advanced PC. I wanted to let you all know how much I’ve apreciated being a part of this forum. The info and support helped get me through so many hard times. I’m so sorry for all of you going through this and know you’ll be in my prayers . My dad was my hero. He was a warrior and he fought to be here with us for as long as he possibly could. Thank you all

I too have a daughter that helps me thru this journey. She goes to my appointments and does research but most importantly she is there for me. Going to lunch and calling me every day. Laughing at my stupid jokes. She is my best friend. I tell you this so you know that I am sure your dad felt and wanted what I want for my daughter. He was so appreciative of all you did while he was alive. You can never fully understand how much it meant to him. Don’t play the “what if” game. You did your best. Take some time to grieve but begin to live your own life again to its fullest. That I promise you is what he wanted for you.

To Dad's loving daughter! I've been following your posts and it is obvious that Dad went through hell on earth. He was so fortunate to have you by his side throughout this painful journey, but now he is resting in peace. We all have to leave this world, some sooner than others; however, in Dad's case the suffering was most likely more than most people could endure. I have always said that my major concern is 'how' I pass, not when. I am so sorry about what both of you went through during these last few years and only hope that you find comfort in knowing that Dad is no longer in pain.

Dear Stumpgirl,

At the time when you, perhaps, are feeling the most intense sense of loss, you took the time to inform us, on this site, of your father's passing. Thank you.

We never "get over" the loss of a loved one. We learn to live with that loss as best we can.

It seems to be a bad bargain that life and death has handed us. As enduring as my grief has been with a loss of my own, I wouldn't trade not having had that person in my life to avoid the pain of separation that death brings.

Be good to yourself now. Family, friends and clergy can be helpful--and sometimes not. At times we need to be alone to let our memories of what had been, help to blunt the pain.

Your father was so lucky to have someone like you as a daughter. Sometimes after a loss we think that perhaps we could have done more. That in some way we are somewhat to blame. That is such a human mistake--and many of us have made the mistake of somehow thinking we are in some way responsible. Don't do that. I have done that. It is just so human to do so.

Be careful driving, walking and so on. Grief can dull our awareness.
