Follow up to my post 3 days ago about PSA rising after Lupron "vacation."

My MO said yesterday that an increase in PSA from several years of undetectable to 0.13 in 3 steps over 4 months is still so low that it does not warrant restarting ADT or any other treatment. So, I'll be getting blood draws every 2 months and the PSA will be monitored. I'm not quite sure why I thought he had said a couple of months ago that a third rise to a low level would necessitate restarting ADT, but he was quite definite that that isn't the case. And his decision of course accords with what TA has said on this site more than once.

A slight change in PSA can occur because of many reasons like lab error, excessive physical activity that day of testing, dehydration etc. This rule of3 rise is a totally arbitrary rule and does not have any scientific basis. I would go by your MO's suggestion to just monitor and not do anything at this point. He seems like a smart trooper too.

Thanks, LearnAll. There's also a chance that the PSA will plateau and I won't have to have any more ADT, at least for a while if not "forever" (I'm 75).
