That was an old recent picture …. Back decades ago I had a full production studio called Dusty Tracks Studios. 14 tracking digital recording, music production computers. Currently that Les Paul has a Roland VG-99 synthesizer connected to it. And the Roland B-3 synth keyboard has come and gone as well. It currently has an old laptop used as a music server with 3 half terabyte drives filled with 400,000 mp3/4 songs of every genre.

Gibbons Les Paul’s are solid body which feature a solid mahogany body with carved relief top , set neck for sustain and stunning dual coil pickups. The hollow body rock and jazz models are in the series of the 335 model …also wonderful guitars. The studio model has less glitz , no neck bindings , edge puff bindings etc. … for use in the studio and not seen on live stage. The studio platinum ( above ) is a small production release custom model with very hot pickups and all burnished metal pick guard, pickup surrounds, metal back plates etc. . No celluloid or plastic like conventional models.
Hats off to the Les Paul aficionados! Yes they sound great, but I’m too old to prance around with them anymore. I use a Tele and a Gibson 336 custom shop on stage. Les Pauls are so heavy I don’t even like playing them sitting down!

Well kinda I guess … I have / had several. I’m a total nerd techie and my main man cave was always a room filled with nuclear , acoustic and electromagnetic bench gear. I pioneered methods of working with infrasound and” seeing “ it in 3D Fourier transforms and acoustic up conversion transforms so you could hear the sound in the human range. Hearing and seeing infrasound makes it much easier to grasp / understand. I looked for acoustic, electromagnetic , geomagnetic and micro seismic natural phenomena in the unseen and unheard world that surrounds us 24/7.

The nuclear portion of my lab , I liked to collect different samples of uranium from different sites … and run a spectrum analysis graph on them and add them to my catalog. This is the opposite side from the photo above.

With that screen grid 6SL7 , some 807 finals would match perfectly. Most of my amp work was with the standard 6L6 , 6V6 …or EL-34s or EL-84s and regular ole 12Ax7s or 12Au7s … I could probably bias those by heart … blindfolded yayahahahaya. I’ve always loved point to point wiring tube chassis amps … that’s the meat that makes the best amp sandwich.

The chassis I had was fitted with octals so that is what I used. The 6L6 has been in steady production since 1936! Love the sound of the original 'beamer.
Yea I saw many metal jacket 6L6s in old wartime gear from the early 40s / late 30s. A good rugged tube that can take a beating. Octals are perfect for a great blues sound. Make the HV a little soft and hit the grids a bit hard … and the just right speaker that can be hit hard , mush a wee bit and the coil and rim stay solid …. Guys I know play around with weak tubes to get “ that sound “ as well. To me that’s a little unpredictable but Neal Young made a living exploiting that soft tube , soft p.s. method. I like tube rectifiers on the p.s. and pull the output p.s. choke to make the HV sag on large loads. You can spend months tweaking the drive on the grids on the interstage amp tubes. Of course all of this stuff causes heat in the output transformer and stresses the grids and screens of the tubes yayahahahaya it’s a science that many boutique$$$ amp builders are expert at these days. Those amps extremely expensive, where “ you “ can accomplish the same thing at home with a good supply of parts and time to experiment.
Gosh I forgot how much I love this stuff. Too bad its not another era and we lived near each other . I’ll bet we could turn out a batch of small power amps that sound like a modded baseman or better .

The tube stuff is still a lot of fun. On the USS Enterprise I had a room full of the flight deck announcing amplifiers. Stromberg Carlson, 9 power amps each with 6 P-P parallel 811As.
Omg …. That’s a whopping lot of audio energy. 4ea. 811s in the heath 1kw amp ( dead key at about 600 max in the real world ) … a pair of 811As in the high level plate modulator modulator in the Johnson Viking Valant. Great medium power workhorses…. I liked them in my amp to warm up the shack lol.
The amps fed into arrays of mid range peaked highly efficient horns, you had to be able to hear them during launch/landing evolutions. With hearing protection on you could hear the sound by opening your mouth. Each amp was rated at 500W RMS . Voice peaks in the 2KW range. In the amp room you could hear the speech as the output transformer cores respond to the magnetostrctive forces. Also you could hear the power transformers 60 cycle "grumble" at the syllabic rate. The Star Trek theme song was played at the end of an underway replenishment as the the adjacent ship departed causing the anodes to become dull red and the filaments to brighten slightly. Yes, high powered stuff.
Sounds impressive… are your speakers piezoelectric, like a lrad or actual coil types . Whichever, must be massive in the power handling world.
1950s technology. Moving coil type that looked like snails for compactness. The power rating was thermal for the voice coils. 70 Volt line. Most were made by University. Jensen made the boxed speakers for general announcing.

Wish I could have seen that. Nowadays they have the lrad acoustic devices that use all new pizeoelectric technology. Some even function as long range acoustic sound weapons. Still I’ll bet they something like those tube rigs even today.

Later on they went to hybrid amps with transistor pre-amps but 811A finals. I suppose today everything is semiconductor. Everything was made to last by avoiding electrolytics. Filters used oil bath condensers and giant chokes. Interstage coupling often used mica condensers or moulded phenolic coated units. The amp in the USS Hornet had asbestos braid covered wires and the power supply used monster 3 phase selenium rectifiers.
It’s been a while ( more than half a century ) since I’ve seen selenium rectifiers. I’ve fried a pile of those in my lifetime yayahahahaya. They have a kinda stinky fart odor when you trash one .😂😂😂😂. Kinda grows on you tho. That odor is supposedly a poisonous gas if you inhale it. I always felt silicone was more durable than selenium , just my own experience, yours may vary. 😁😁😁 I’d suspect that considerable EMP protection was built into those amps. They are obviously a critical infrastructure system on the ship, a ship susceptible to emp attack or nearby nuclear blasts. …… even in modern times , I’d suspect that vacuum tubes are far more emp and transient resistant than about anything solid state. Asbestos insulation and selenium rectifiers tho ……. Bet some hazmat concerns come into play related to handling and disposal of those . 😂😂😂😂

The rectifiers on the USS Hornet are still operating and yes, they do smell like burning sulphur. In the Hornet's amplifier room ( called the "I.C." room for interior communications)PCB warning signs were hanging everywhere but nothing about the asbestos? All the caps were sealed cans. Who would open one and consume the contents? I was part of the" I.C. gang".
Asbestos, chemicals, lead paint, radioactive watch , instrument and clock hands , pcb’s, electrocution ….. GIANT waves, crashing jets ……..those were the exciting days when just going in to work was an adventure 😂😂😂😂😂 Times sure have evolved over the decades …..
Working for a newspaper I used to sweep up lead bits on the floor, keep the lead pots full and make sure the linotypes and other equipment had plenty of "pigs" nearby. As an electrician lead paste was painted on exterior tubing joints. It was in paint, gasoline, plumbing, glass and generally everywhere. Amazingly, I am still alive.
Yea…. and seems like it’s been trial and error and live and learn dealing with hazardous stuff in our world. I’ve often wondered if exposure to environmental hazards had a role in my cancer. As a little kid in rural ( primitive) Kentucky ( constant coal mine dust ) and ( primeval ) rural Indiana … we used to bring mercury to school and “ silver “ pennies with it and drink untreated water from a creek in the middle of a pasture. yayahahaha as an adult I’ve been exposed to countless amounts of nuclear radiation in the military as a nuclear tech , and as a biomedical engineer, exposed to every nasty human pathogen known to man in a hospital lab setting. I once got hepatitis just touching one broken lab sterilizer yayahahaha. I guess we saved the best for last yayahahaha yayahahaha. Yikes …

Yea but marshals are WAY too loud if you are trying to get that Hendrix pickup sound , even with a power soak … even with my Roland vg-99 preamp ( check them out on YouTube ) it still takes a tube Marshal , Mesa or vox to do the job right. That particular strat was owned by a locally famous musician and was broken in perfectly. It's neck was saliva inducing., tone to da bone. When I started letting pieces of the studio go, there was a feeding frenzy over it. Friends wanted it so bad I had to let them have it. I regret letting it go, but I couldn’t play it anymore anyway … still you don’t find one of those very often and the pros send out buyers looking for them, willing to pay anything to get one. Leaves us regular guys out for the most part.
I know numerous guys that love the maple neck , gloss shaved off the back, …over rosewood or even korina.
From where I’m at… my perspective ….. in your shoes I’d be running around my block laughing and cheering like a crazy man. Prolly it’s all a matter of degree and perspective …..I guess. Thank your lucky stars if that’s about all you’ve got from adt , you are one of the fortunate ones , revel in your good fortune for as long as you can brother PCa fighter.

Same here.Hell. Even a two chord jam can sound good to one's own ears. Get the rhythm, up strokes, down strokes. individual string picks out of the chords going and it feels good. Yep emotional release as you said.
A wise musician once told me that “ it doesn’t matter what it sounds like , if you are enjoying it yourself” play to satisfy yourself first …. That’s what matters ultimately. I’ll never be a Hendrix or SRV …but that’s what I’d want if I had a choice.
Jimi and SRV my top two probably (my grandsons middle name is Hendrix) but then again I have so many the list is long of many that follow close behind.

Now you’re speaking my language. Play at the guitar, not “play the guitar”. Not in my DNA, though I have certainly tried. Now the only guitar to come off the wall is my Breedlove acoustic unplugged. (Now made in Bend OR by “Two Old Hippies”. Fantastic richness for enjoying jazz chord progressions and easy pentatonic random riffs.
I’m a acoustic sound freak as well … but good box guitars with that “ fantastic richness “ good necks and low action are shockingly expensive… probably worth every penny tho IMHO. Yayahahahaya
Nowadays I’ve lobbied the wife to sell off my remaining music gear and put the money in the bank. In my right hand , if I close it, two of my fingers need help opening up again and a third is nearly there. The joints eaten away by Mets. My left hand is better but similar damage and doesn’t work very well too.
Both feel as tho the adt drugs have damaged the nerves in them considerably. I guess that’s the reason, dunno.
Anyway I don’t have normal functionality in either hand now. Guitar is history. Seems pointless to keep the gear but I think the wife has other things in mind, thinking about her new life later on … might be related to those post-it notes stuck on all my gear. They have peoples ( I don’t know ) names on them. Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya.

In my experience, the Firmagon shots are much more painful than Eligard (Lupron). Firmagon used to create a red swollen area about 4" in diameter that hurt so bad I would have to wear sweet pants for about 3 days after.

Lupron shots don’t have to hurt. Never bothered me, but I’m sure there’s some tips on here from those who share your pain-ice, different injection sites etc.
The prednisone has to go down quick that’s all.

Open topic with your doc about transitioning into orgovyx if possible there is assisted help if insurance is a problem It tough with PCa but management is there to sustain rough conditions .

Lupron is a two-part mixture. It must be mixed up by rolling the syringe for two or three minutes between your hands. I was on Lupron for six years and would always volunteer to do this for the oncology nurse. It rarely gave me any pain. Good luck.

Eligard shots to hurt - if you can get Lupron Depot, those are less painful. and just a thought, but I don't think you're supposed to be chewing up the prednisone tablets!

My arse hurt for three days and never really tasted the prednisone but do know the Zytiga has a nasty powder on it that makes me cough worse than a good hit of some good Sativa😝
