My MO wants me to do a LN needle biopsy for Parp, but I am not mCRPC.

I have been searching and am confused. I have not even started ADT yet, so is this biopsy needed?

I also searched, but what all is involved with a inguinal lymph node biopsy with CT guidance. The imaging center will only tell me that a radiologist will do the procedure and a nurse will call me 24 hours prior with the details. I am not even sure I want to do this.

I didn't ask all this during my appointment, because I thought I was a good researcher... And under shock to find out I have a bone met.

Why don't you want it? After ADT it will shrink and the opportunity to analyze it will be lost.

Hello TA, it's been a while. I'm not sure what the biopsy procedure is. I'm alone in a new state now. Will I need to find a ride? Will I need to recover in bed for a few days and need assistance? If so, I need to justify the procedure. Im a little surprised that I wasn't offered a consult first. Thanks for asking and hope you are well.

The info gathered form this biopsy will guide your treatments for a long time... get it done while you have a chance.. Shouldn't be a big deal..

It’s just a needle into the LN, usually in a ct scanner. It takes about 5 minutes. You can drive yourself.

My RO attempted a biopsy on my retroperitoneal LN's after ADT and they couldn't find one on Ultra Sound so stopped the procedure. In fact they couldn't find any LN's. So I agree with TA. I can't say what it would be like but if at all the same I was given a somewhat heavy pain killer so I would not have been able to drive myself after the procedure. In fact I was given the pain killer before they decided they couldn't do it. I was in a gown and a bed and had a IV installed. Not sure if the location of the abdomen like mine or the upper leg/crotch like yours will be done differently but hope this helps a little.

Thanks everyone, makes sense to get the info now for later. I didn't consider that. I also requested grid info from my Decipher test in 2016. Apparently .63 score was correct.

I had a needle biopsy of a lymph node. It was nothing. I was given a sedative and the whole process took just over 5 minutes. I was kept under observation for couple of hours just to make sure no bleeding from the needle site.

I think you are seeing the future of cancer therapy. It will become individualized based on the tumor genetics. So important to have this done before any treatment, especially radiation, that makes getting a tissue sample easy. Invasive radiologists often have a staff member that you can talk to and get more information about the specifics of the planned procedure. You need it for preparation and especially for whether you need a driver to take you home(not likely). Each situation is unique so you need to ask your questions directly from those who provide your care and know the specifics or your situation. Not a time to try and self-educate. Ask for help.
