Increasing Akkermansia in your gut, helps fight atherosclerosis, which sometimes, subsequently slows cancer spread.

and Akkermansia spp. were increased by the berberine treatment (Figure 1d,e). Interestingly, the number of bifidobacteria was also significantly higher upon curcumin supplementation (* p < 0.05, two-way ANOVA).

Healthy gut microbiome was shown in a recent study, to assist ADT in extending time to castration resistance.

Anytime Patrick.

This is Patrick Schout. Thank you for the confirmation. I’m taking both. Have you read Russ Holyer posts about Bipolar androgen therapy? Very interesting research that “theoretically” can extend the use of ADT indefinitely.

I don’t think so. Have they been any studies done that concluded that bat is better than soc?

Thank you George.I am taking both of these after seeing other information previously. Always good to see confirming research.

Hi,I’ve tried berberine in the past but didn’t have any significant results.

Curcumin, on the other hand is a different matter. I use that supplement a lot. Just make sure you get a brand that hasn’t had dichloroethane used in its extraction process.

As for probiotics, from my experience most that I’ve bought have been useless. I find it much better to actually ferment my own. Kefir and sauerkraut are exceptionally good for probiotics.

I think it’s prudent to take the following into consideration.

-> Supplements are essentially not regulated. You have to research for yourself to finding a product that’s effective and safe. This is true for Curcumin for example.

-> Supplements can interfere with treatments. An antioxidant t with counter an oxidant.

-> Some supplements shouldn’t be taken by themselves. Some are fat soluble or can be absorbed with an additional agent. For example piperine is usually added to Curcumin for absorbability.

-> Probiotics can be useless by the time you receive them. The bacteria count is at the time of manufacture. Fermented products are exponentially superior.

-> When you are considering trying supplementation and / or diet changes, not everyone reacts the same way. People have different body types, different gene expressions, different environments and much more. If at all possible, try to monitor the effects of what you are doing. For PCa, for example, take monthly psa tests to see what happens with the trend.

-> IMO, chronic inflammation go hand in hand. It’s a reasonable strategy to consider what reduces inflammation in your diet.

-> There are NO scientific studies anywhere on this planet where they have had a group of identical people, locked on a room, under the same conditions and tested for anything. NADA. The research papers you read are either on animals (different to humans), cells in a dish (taken out of their extremely complicated environment with all kinds of feedback loops and chemicals), are subject to sponsor bias, poorly written and much more. They are also surveys over many years - totally uncontrolled and inaccurate. You can literally read a study and the next one you read says the exact opposite. They even group these studies to create a meta study. From my experience, they should be considered but are in no way gospel.

To me, it’s much more prudent to try to monitor your psa for changes to see the effect. Alternatively, if possible you can also have bone scans. Even a combination of both. A psa has the advantage of being cheap and has a quick turnaround. Nobody will have the exact same results for any treatment.

One last thing, never assume you’re doing the ‘right thing’. I did a series of 4 day water fasts and a Keto with very low carbs. My psa went up exponentially in 3 months. From my experience PCa in its early stages thrives on fats and proteins. If I didn’t monitor this I wouldn’t have detected this early on.

I know most of what you said. I just wanted people to know another way to improve the gut, which helps the adt be effective for a longer period of time, as i shared in a previous post. I also posted a few other posts about hire to improve gut health through food.

How do you know that the berberine didn’t help your gut health?

I took out all other probiotics when I used it to give it a workout and I got constipation. I don’t think this is a general effect though. Just it didn’t work for me.

I had terrible trouble three years ago with my stomach pain. The doc gave me those PPIs that remove the acid. Things just got a lot worse. Doc wanted me to try a 2d and a 3rd. I told her that studies show those PPIs cause cancer and heart disease. I proceeded to take three probiotics per day and within 2 weeks , I was 80% better. Now I get most of my probiotics from foods and prebiotics.

Thats interesting what you said about the water fasts.

Should we give the cancer some nuts/saturated fats to keep the cancer from mutating? During your water fast, maybe the PSA rose while the cancer wasn't getting fed carbs and fat. Is that what you're thinking?

Do you get monthly psa's using a doctor's monthly order, or is there a way to get the PSAs without a doctor's order?
