PSMA scan changes treatment yet again

Over the last few months I’ve had 3 PSMA scans and each time my treatment needed to be changed. PSA is no longer a good marker of my disease.

1. Planning prostatectomy. I went and had a PSMA scan which showed issue was supraclavicular lymph nodes and met on C1. Treatment swapped to Lu177.

2. After two Lu177 infusions second PSMA scan showed lymph nodes resolving but continued spread on spine. Treatment changed to Jevtana and Carboplatin.

3. After two chemo infusions PSMA scan showed lymph nodes resolved but significant spread and growth of Mets on spine.

I’m probably now swapping to Xofigo - will know in a few days.

Three times over 6 months a PSMA scan has prevented me from pursuing a treatment that wasn’t working.

It seems that the PSMA scans have provided so much more information. Are they harder to take than the regular ct and bone scans?
