Does any know or have experience with using a generic form of zytiga (Abiraterone)? Is there a medical difference between the drugs or concern the generic may not be as effective?

Zytiga or generic Abiraterone?
Good to hear, the projected cost is a big difference.
Generic works just fine
switched a couple years ago, works just fine
Generics are FDA approved and have been used safely for years.
I started with Zytiga (09/2018), then changed to generic Abiraterone Acetate (Accredo) once available. Did not notice a difference, eventually transitioned to treatment vacation (05/2020), but my PSA started to double monthly starting 05/2021.
Looking back, it was beneficial because when my PSA went over 2, the PSMA scans provided an effective radiation targeted therapy. Moreover, a diagnosis of Oligometastatic disease was established, before
Insurance caused me to switch from Zytiga to the generic. I had no change in effectiveness. My MO told me they were made in the same plant. Save the $$ with confidence.
Best,
James
I was on generic for 3 1/2 years. Works fine.
I was switched to generic around 2 years ago. No difference.
Generic Zytiga for about 3 1/2 years no problem. PSA 0.1
I r been using generic for 2+years with good results
All the same, they all have abiraterone acetate and that's the weapon.
it is the ingredients that matter but in some cases with more complex drugs there can be proprietary "non active" ingredients that do make a difference. however i think this is quite rare. i have heard of people who had adverse reactions to generics but it might be placebo in reverse.
being fed up with the many rip offs of the pharmacy industry, I have finally decided to stop giving my dogs heart worm pills at $10 each which contain about 3 cents worth (or less) of ivermectin. i have read countless opinions online that all say there is absolutely no difference in the ivermectin in the cattle injectible and the dog pill. it can be given SQ or orally and is just as effective. yes dosing is a little difficult but it can be diluted or in my case since i have a semi micro analytical balance i can just weigh it as i add it to a treat.
I looked up the industrial process for making aberaterone acetate and it is surprisingly simple. you mix a bunch of fairly ordinary chemicals together and maintain temperature precipitate etc there is nothing special about it. the recipe was for 55 gallons or so which would be worth millions sold to us as Zytiga. My insurance pays most of the cost but still !!!
Think of it this way...... Your wife is "specific" (antonym for generic)....All the other women you want to screw are "inclusive" (synonym for generic).....
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I have been on both. No change in PSA or anything else with Generic vs name brand.
Have been on both. No noticeable difference.
it was my understanding that Zytiga was the brand name of Abiraterone. Neither being generic.
