IP6 supplementation ok during radiation?

Hello Everyone, has anyone had experience taking IP6 and if so how has it worked out? Does anyone know if it is ok to take during Radiation? I cannot find any literature on this. My dad is also taking a few other supplements. Any known contra indications with IP6? Thank you very much for any advice!

He should not be taking ANY supplements during radiation. They may or may not interfere, but since there is no known benefit, why take the chance? He can resume afterwards if he must.

Here's an old thread on tips on prepping for radiation.... personally, I took Berberine, ate edemame (soy), and fasted once/wk during IMRT sessions-- all of which have had studies showing increased sensitivity of cancer cells to radiation. One thing not to take is Vit C supplements during radiation as it may have a protective effect for the tumor.

On IP6, check CalBear74's posts--- he has researched it extensively...

Thank you for the information! I will look into Berberine. I only just read about benefits of intermittent fasting and told dad to start doing 16 hours nightly. Did you fast for the whole day?

He is currently taking pomegranate 500mg 2x / day

CoQ10

Vit D 5000iu in morning

“Bone restore” (from iherb) 2 caps twice daily - he has osteopenia in hips and has begun hormones so started this as a preventative

Cayenne + bioperene

Lycopene 25mg

Artemisinin protocol (4 days on 3 days off) which includes 500mg artemisinin in the afternoon accompanied by

Calcium Magnesium Butyrate -2 caps (2.4g Butyric acid per dose)

Artemether from Hepalin 80mg evening also taken with Butyrate

Vitamin c 200-500mg to move iron (for artemisinin protocol)

Curcumin c3 1000mg with bioperene

The main thing he is doing right now is artemisinin. He will stop this shortly as he is due to have radiation and won’t resume for 1 month after. Plan to only continue on the Butyrate and the others during radiation, will stop on vitamin C.

I wonder what else can be added to his regimen during radiation. It seems IP6 mode of action has conflict with artemisinin, so I will at some point switch him to one or the other .

My radiation appointments were at noon, so I ate a light dinner the day before and fasted till the next day. Each Friday, I did a continuation of the Thursday fast for a total of about 38 hours.

Here’s a study on berberine…

This is one of the items I used during my radiation. Melatonin. ALso used high milligram (200mg) cream to protect skin. I will post other items so you can read yourself and decide. As an aside, a statin has been shown also to enhance the radiation.

Hi Nalakrats, thanks for the information. Can you tell me why it is the “wrong” form of Calcium Magnesium? I added it to my father’s supplement regimen for the Butyrate. The other option is sodium butyrate, I went with cal mag. It is shown to work synergistically with Artemisinin. Best regards, MsBobo

Thanks for the info and your advice. I take it all on board. To clarify, the Calcium Magnesium Butyrate is being taken for its butyric acid component. The bone supplement from Life extension (purchased from iHerb) is a combo containing K2, boron, chelated form of calcium. I do know the artemisinin receives mixed views but it is something my father wants to try. He started all this only fairly recently and I am continually researching on supplements and will make changes.

What does your Radiation Oncologist say? I suspect that he will take a very dim view. If you feel like your need to take supplementals, please take him a solid list for approval.
