I done some of the research as best I can. My question is directed to those that have taken Reclast and what your reaction was to the drug. Would appreciate your input on using this drug.

Considering Reclast
No need to take it if you don't have osteoporosis.
There is another reason to consider it in APC, at least it seems so with denosumab. And might be applicable to zolendronic acid: altering bone micro environment to possibly make it less vulnerable to bone mets.
I took an annual dose of Reclast and got about a 3% improvement in my bone density.
ADT after 18 months had pushed me into Osteopenia - the precursor to osteoporosis.
I think I felt a bit "off" for the next day after the infusion. All good. I have taken it two years in a row now. Waiting to see what my next bone density scan will show.
I took Reclast in 2019 and 2020 for Osteopenia before I knew I had prostate cancer. It increased my bone density and I skipped 2021 at my endocrinologist advice.
It was a simple 30 minute infusion. I did not have any side effects (again before prostate cancer.
I had one infusion of Reclast. Felt fine at first, but about 6 hours later I had serious chills. Teeth-chattering, body-shaking chills. Oral temperature was 97F. I took some acetaminophen, had a long hot steamy shower, then went to bed under all my blankets. About four hours later I woke up sweating and feverish. Oral temperature was 100F. I drank a pint of water, took some ibuprofen, stripped down, and went back to bed without the blankets. When I woke up in the morning, I felt fine and my temperature was back to normal.
My bone density on the next scan had dropped a little. Perhaps it dropped less than it might have if I hadn't taken the Reclast? No way to know.
Six months later, I had a shot of Prolia instead. Bone density is still dropping slowly, but at least I didn't have to deal with chills or fever.
Thank you to all that responded to my request for information on Reclast.
Hi, I thought I'd add my very recent experience with Reclast. I debated a long time and did a lot of research before deciding to get my first infusion. I got the infusion 8/23/21, 2 days ago. The next day I woke up with a terrific headache that dissapated over the day. The rest of the day was pretty rough. I had an extremely quesy stomach, chills and odd feelings in various parts of my body that came and went, similar to the feeling of arthritis. That night after the chills I felt like I had a fever and sweated it out. This morning I woke up feeling 90% better. From other stories I think it could have been worse. I think perhaps my previous preparation made the difference.
So this is what I did. 2 days prior to the infusion , I drank lots and lots of water and took one Tylenol every 6 hours. On the day of the infusion, I drank lots of water and one hour prior to the infusion I took 2 Tylenol and one Benedryl. I am continuing to drink lots of water today.
I discovered that Reclast depletes calcium and its extremely important to supplement with daily Calcium 1500 mg and Vitamin E up to 3000 mg a day. I also found that in order for calcium to be absorbed into the body it needs to be divided up during the day , not taken just once.
I am hoping that there will be no further negative reaction in the days to come. Hope this story helps a bit!
