18 months after RT on pelvic parts, I have occasional rectal bleeding visible on toilet paper ... red color.
It is visible about every 10 days, difficult to see traces in stool..
I saw gastro and he identified some scars on rectum after examination.
Prescribed 10 days of rectum Betnesol enema and then twice a week for 4 weeks.
I am not convinced if I need it seeing all side effects at 81 years I may have. I do not have any inconvenience, no irritaion, no constipation etc., only some bloating may depend on what I eat as I am vegetarian. No history of piles etc.
I would like to have comments from our tribe members if any and any suggestion if I should do it. Or wait and see....Right now I am not doing it.
It seems that TA is in favor of not aggressing the rectum....
Thanks to all co travelers...

Interesting as I have had radiation over 39 days about 7 months ago and for the first time a few days ago there was red blood on toilet paper. Yesterday and today there was no blood on toilet paper.
The blood appears and then for one or two weeks nothingSure there may be traces of invisible blood in stool
The question is how to handle this situation
No clear answer
Let it heal by itself
Each doc will suggest something
but no clear choice...
TA goes for avoid any irritation
He suggests cortisone cream
Does any body use this type of cream...off label or prescription
I am not a doctor, however, I share what I have learned over the years. Deep red blood spotty, don’t worry about. In most cases a polyp/hemorrhoid broke, Discuss with your gastroenterologist. He’s the pro..... mine, “enemas are bad”........ perhaps Anulsol cream ———- I preferred suppositories. If it is old blood ——— dark black/brown, worry, get to gastric ASAP.
