Axium scan

After 10 sessions of radiation on T11 and L3 my RO suggested an Axium scan. I am waiting for the second blood draw after finishing radiation to see if PSA drops. These scans are only available in 3 areas close to my home town, Meridian, ID, Salt Lake, UT, or Seattle, WA. Is this a worth while scan to observe other mets and their progress?

My time on Zytiga is coming to an end I feel. Started last August with PSA at 20, in January PSA at 4.48 but as of 4/29 PSA at 10.03 which was just after completing radiation. I'm hoping 5/27 lab will see a drop. I've completed Provenge and Xtandi so I believe Chemo is next. I'm still open to suggestions if I need to move on to a new treatment.

I appreciate all of you and the collection of information I find on this site.

Met with my onc today. He said he has had it done in Spokane which is closer for me, maybe you too ? My PSA is lower, but PSADT is less. I haven't yet had Provenge and am still on Xtandi. Good luck to both of us.

Thank you for the reply about Spokane, I am 100 miles south of Spokane in the Lewiston Valley. Do you know which hospital has the axium scans?

Not yet he is checking and putting in request. I read your post before seeing him and mentioned what it said. He stated he had had it done in Spokane and would see which lab did it . I will let you know when I find out.. I'm in Bonners Ferry.

Bend Oregon also has Axumin at St. Charles whee I get my care. But since you must travel anyway for a scan consider Ga-PSMA PET scan instead? More sensitive and would also indicate whether Lu-PSMA treatments might be of value.

Good advice! Do I understand that Medicare will not cover PSMA scans but will cover an axium scan?

Axumin Pet/CT is worth getting, not as good as PSMA.
