How long does it take to see a change in psa when starting a new med? My husband has been on Lynparza for six days his psa was 15.9 it’s now 16.9. Does it take some time? Thank you for all your support.

Give it at least a couple of months. New therapies often raise PSA at first as cancer cells are killed.

I gather your husband probably has a BRCA mutation? I am BRCA2 positive and just started a month aho on a clinical trial using Lynparza and an ATR channel blocker called AZD6738. After 2 weeks my PSA was down from 17.77 on start date, to 14.2. At the end of week 4, yesterday, it had dropped from 14.2 to 11.05. I am pleased, as I was told not to expect much movement too soon, by my oncologist. My PSA was doubling in under 3 weeks... scarey, so just getting it to stop or go the other way was great news. Before I had started the new therapy, he onc said to be patient as PARPI's aren't poison, like standard chemo. Their killing ability is a process, and that can take some time. That said, when the PSA starts down, you just want that trend to continue or hold for as long as possible.

No he has the CDK 12 mutation. I hope it works. If not then immunotherapy. He had been on Zytiga since Sept. His psa never dropped below 13 then it just kept trending up in small amounts. He just started the Lynparza last week. His psa last month was 15.9 yesterday it was 16.9.
