TREATMENT AFTER FIRST-LINE CHEMO?

Dear all, thank you for your support and advice. My dad finished 8 rounds of chemo and his PSA currently is 0.29. MRI result after 8th chemo round saw the wound at prostate was 10 x 14mm, bones mets (stable in comparison to previous MRI result). The MRI result after 6th chemo round did not say anything about these.Might it be different ways of writing result because of different imagine readers or there is a disease progress? (My dad is at 4 stage PC with bone metastasis.) He wants to clarify the point above with his doctor, but has not yet succeeded in making an appointment. Since we are a little bit nervous about it, I would like to ask if anyone of you have experience on this and share with us.

My dad was informed by the assistance doctor that the chemo treatment finished . He have to do MRI scan and blood test every 3 months and bone scan every 6 months. Based on the test / scan result, the doctor will tell him what to do next, i.e. if he must take another treatment. We fell passive and want to have some knowledge about your treatment experience. Please share with us your experience about when you took next treatment (after chemo), what lead to that decision and what treatment you took. In Vietnam there is actually only Zytiga but not Xtandi.

By the way, I saw many discussion about Metformin in Heathunloked. My Dad has no Diabetes . Can he takes Metformin because of its goodness for Pc?

Thank you in advance for your sharing and Wish you all the best

Hi, Dawn.

May I suggest that you edit your heading for this post to: TREATMENT AFTER FIRST-LINE CHEMO? That way you'll hear from men who, like your dad, got first-line chemo right after diagnosis. You need to compare apples to apples. Men who got chemo years after diagnosis got different early treatments, and their experience won't be relevent to your dad's. Mainly pay attention to what your doctor is advising and take this time while your father is stable to be grateful for that stability. I hope you and your dad enjoy enjoy his post-chemo stability as long as possible.
