I’ve been on Zoladex implants for just over a year and and have recently developed tingling fingers. Has anyone else had this? It could have started after I started taking calcium supplements.
Tingling fingers: I’ve been on Zoladex... - Advanced Prostate...
Tingling fingers
Tingling in fingers generally is caused by irritation of nerves in hands. The cause may be difficult to discern...It is a sign of peripheral Neuropathy..(related to some drug, diabetes or simply pinching on nerve, high anxiety , )
I will start with taking a Vitamin B Complex tab daily for a month, Review side effects of each of the medication I am taking and if still not better, will go and see a neurologist.
Hey TonyHubbs. Tingling in the hands is neuropathy . I have it in hands and feet mostly. In my case a lifetime of overuse of antibiotics then the IMRt and double adt have aggravated this condition. My nat md prescribed lipoic acid .Two pills per day helps. Exercise is the only widely accepted helper for most issues. My hands and sometime my limbs fall asleep while I sleep . My veins are minuscule now. Poor circulation for sure . Massage and an infrared sauna can aid this also . Good luck Sir.
I assume you are taking calcium because your blood levels are low? If not, increased calcium has been associated with increased prostate cancer.
Hi, my dad takes zometa infusions every quarter - he has not taken them since the covid outbreak in march - missed three infusions - his main oncologist advised him not to risk coming to the hospital to take it as for his case it is okay to miss the dose (he has undetectable PSA level, one met in the bone along with several in lymph nodes (including distant lymph nodes) and also mentioned something about his normal ALP levels).
Now when we last consulted the MO in August he asked us to take calcium supplement (500 mg of calcium carbonate) for bone health since he is not taking zometa. His ALP and calcium blood levels were normal. Since his main MO wasnt visiting the hospital due to covid all his patients were being handled by his junior MO, who advised adding the Calcium. Our next appointment is in November 1st week with the Main MO- should we preopen it to discuss about calcium?
His ALP levels:
September 2019 - 64
November 19 -50
December 19- 53
February 20- 51
August 20- 33 (this is lower than the lab range of 40-150 U/L)
His Calcium levels:
September 2019 - 9.60
November 2019- 8.50
February 2020- 9.3
August 2020- 9.1
I don't think it is a good idea to take Calcium or Vitamin D unless blood levels are low. Excess calcium intake has been associated with increased PCa:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
cebp.aacrjournals.org/conte...
High Vitamin D intake has been found to pull calcium out of bones and lower bone mineral density:
I simply started taking a vitamin D/ calcium supplement due to possible bone thinning caused by the zoladex which I’m on for three years. I’ve since had a blood test showing my calcium levels are normal. I now take vitamin D alone.
My doctor has referred me for neuro tests to determine whether the tingling and numbness is muscle or nerve based. I’m booked in for mid November.
Damn this hot flushes! I’m having one right now! My wife said: ‘now you know what I had to put up with!’ 😟😃
I'm familiar with that comment. Also on alpha lipoic acid for neuropathy in hands and feet.
I developed foot neuropathy after 8 cycles of chemo. Prescribed Gabapentin which I don't think helps the neuropathy a lot, but it reduced hot flashes to almost zero.
Neurontin/Gabapentin for neuropathy.
Cure for hot flashes..... Take a shower with your wife and girlfriend(s).

Nice thought j-o-h-n , unfortunately the three year course of Zoladex implants I’m half way through has put an end to that sort of sordid activity. All thoughts of sexual shannanigans flew out of the window ( and shower) a few months after I started having the implants inserted.
The decreasing size of my testicles is proof of that. Very sad.
"I remember testicles."
In my experience, the sadness starts to ease a bit after a few years of not really seeing them that often, and when one stops sending out the occasional search party to try to find them.
Anecdotally, I once saw verbiage on a CT scan report last year of something that was described as "probably a testicle". "Thanks a lot!" Ha. Ha.
I remember aerobic sex, too, but that was also a very long time ago. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Well Anthony..... they say "birds of a feather....and etc."
Immies......

Thanks all of you for your helpful comments plus humour. Although, thankfully I have localised PC (Gleason 4+5!) I can assure you all I’m both fully aware and sympathetic to your plight). Good luck and keep on truckin’ all and everyone of you! And keep up the good humour (Brit spell) j-o-h-n .
