Flaxseed

My NMD told me that flaxseed causes estradiol to decrease in preference of estriol. Estriol is supposedly good for PCa depending on how much ERb and ERa one has.

I have been on supraphysiologic testosterone (SPT) for a little over a year. I use an AI (letrozole) and my estradiol hovered around 20 pg/ml. Last month I added flaxseed to my diet (I think too much - I was consuming about an ounce or two a day). My estradiol dumped from the mid-20s to <4. I talked to my NMD and he thinks that if I monitored my estriol it would show a marked increase.

I've reduced my flaxseed intake to 1/10 oz a day and I've cut my AI dose in half. Next week I'm going to have my estradiol levels checked.

Thoughts? Good/bad/indifferent

Please explain more why Flaxseed can be bad for PC. So far my understanding is to increase intake of flaxseed

Dr. Snuffy Myers always had issues about flaxseed being bad for prostate cancer.

I never stopped to listen to his reasoning.

Flaxseed could/might be helpful per link below

That's an interesting and significant effect on the E2 level just from taking flaxseed. Thanks for the info. I am also in the midst of an AI dosing experiment trying to find the right balance to maintain E2 in the mid 20s. Needless to say, it will vary for everyone depending on T levels, endocrine metabolic efficiency, etc... and apparently how much flaxseed you eat 😳

My take away several years ago from looking at literature is that flax oil is not good for PCa, but flax lignans may be beneficial (sorry I don't have any references at my fingertips). When you grind/eat the seeds you get both oil and lignans. I order flax lignans and add that to my granola periodically, but otherwise avoid flaxseeds and flax oil.

Makes sense to eat only the lignans. Until this thread I was unaware that I could specifically get lignans without any ALA. Perhaps flax lignans > flax seed > flax oil.

Do you still take: premiumgoldflax.com/product... (original link was broken but I think this might be the product)

Looks like, whatever the overall conclusion of the study, either flaxseed is better than flax oil or less harmful than the oil. So, definitely no to oil.

Do you think that the hulls/lignans might also serve to convert estradiol to estriol? As you know I'm on SPT and an AI among other things. So I can manipulate my estradiol however I want, within reason.

I do use that product, but often skip days.

I don't know what effect the lignans might have on estrogens.

A waste of time in my view, better to spend your time, money and energy on living large. You are again attempting to create some magic potion that does NOT exist at present. There are sadly, far to many charlatans who are eager to take money from those in need.

SPT helps me live large. Multiple ways. Simply amazing!

Are you still taking 1000mg AA w/out food daily and 400mg Testosterone Cipionste weekly?

in reply tonobaday

Yup. But some days I take 250mg AA w a meal. Others the 1000mg wo food.

And I was thinking of doing 200mg weekly cyp for 2 weeks and then 600mg for 2 weeks. Might provide some extra stress. At the same time I hesitate to stress my body by taking more test.

As you are doing continuous SPT what is AA doing? . With BAT and 4 week T injections the Zoladex or Lupron or AA will bring T quickly down to castrate levels.

Isn’t the idea of SPT at 1500+ to overwhelm all those PC cells that are adapting g and growing in castrate T?

in reply tonobaday

I'm doing continuous SPT. I don't know what AA is doing. I've asked two oncs and they both say the same thing: I don't know but you're doing great so don't change a thing.

You're right that the idea of SPT is to overwhelm PCa cells (mechanisms being debated).

My T is 2100-3000+ and my gym gains are phenomenal. So I don't think AA is reducing the effectiveness of SPT. But good point and I'll try going off AA for a month and see what happens in the gym and in my T measurements.
