I had a 4 month Lupron shot two days ago and I can hardly walk. It is somewhat better today than yesterday but still very painful. I have had 3 Lupron shots before but never had such pain last so long. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Unusual soreness from Lupron shot
Yes, it will pass soon
Depends how they give shot...I had times no soreness and other times for 3 or 4 days
I'm usually sore for a day after a Lupron shot. It helps if the nurse injects it slowly to give the dosage some time to diffuse from the injection site. Also, walking a few miles the day of the shot seems to help disperse the Lupron and alleviate soreness as well.
Yep. Every time. Ibuprofen plus acetaminophen combo helps.
Yep, timotur has some good suggestions, I don't know where they are injecting you, but I can guess. The last time the nurse suggested the top of my leg instead of the usual place, it was a lot easier and far less sore. The injection needs to be shaken really well before use and injected slowly. My previous Doctor didn't care that much and I always ended up walking like John Wayne.
Hope that you feel better soon.
Phil
The nurse needs to be careful to inject the needle a specific way to avoid irritating or even hitting the nerves leading down legs. There are specific directions regarding Lupron injections.
I have been on Lupron for 19 months. One time a new nurse gave me the shot and irritated the nerves, I was walking like Marshall Dillon for a week. Most times only skin sore for about a day.
Good luck
I had it with Chemo docataxal and sailed through it but my last infusion everything caught up with me
They explained the infusions add up month by month making them even more effective

Strange behaviour my wife thinks they just dont know how to respond
Absolutely! I just posted a question a week ago how to lessen soreness. I walked a lot, used an ice pack immediately after the shot and noticed a huge improvement with my 6 month shot I received 8 days ago. The previous 2 shots were much more sore, and I walked with a limp for about 3 days and overall felt "lupron flu" symptoms of sore and achy all over.
Yes. Really hurt afterwards once. Can only guess it's technique dependant
We ice it down afterwards - seems to help
Once. But the last shot was painless. Nurse gave me a shot in left cheek. Had all weight on right leg so no tense muscle. All the difference in the world.
I had a nurse at Dana Farber who gave me 3 months. First time she started slapping me on the butt (I though she was getting fresh) slapped, talked gave me the shot and I NEVER felt a thing. I have one in Fla and she also does a great job, pinches me (also believes she warms up the Lupron in her hands), and i feel very little. Last shot i got a new nurse. It was Elegard because of the Lupron shortage. Hurt like hell. Dont think it was the Elegard! So in short, i think it is the person giving the shot that makes the difference.
It's like sex (remember that?).....It's all in the technique....
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

It should get better.
I had a string of 3 month shots.
Some were more painful than others.
Nevertheless, the 'pain / burning sensation' went away fairly quickly.
Hopefully, for you, that will be the case.
