Like all treatment each individual is different some have quick results in a month or two...some have a PSA flare where it goes up for a few months as cancer cells die off...I for instance when I started Zytiga my PSA rose for 6 months from 22 to 39 and now it has come down for 7 months to 13...all good so far...pray for best results!!!

Hello, I hope Zytiga works as well for your husband as it is doing for me. I was on other treatments before which didn't cut the mustard. Zytiga hit the cancer along with injections almost immediately, the PSA took a nose dive.

Just be prepared for the normal side effects, but over a period of time, they should lessen.

All the best to you both.

I have been on Zytiga/ Prednisone/Lupron for 10 years. Everybody reacts differently to Zytiga. After robotic surgery, beam radiation and hormone suppressant therapy over four years, my PSA went from 35 to 5.5 to .5 to undetectable in four months and has stayed there for the nine years since. I hope it works for you as good as it has for me!

Walter, just curious, are you taking the recommended dosage? (1000 mg/day with 5 mg prednisone 2/day). My situation is similar to yours except my PSA only went to 4. I have been on Zytiga for 1 year. Didn't start until I went castrate resistant after 13 years of intermittent lupron/casodex.

I am impressed with your results.

Is the Zytiga working well?

toml77β€’ in reply toFight11

It dropped the PSA from 20 to 4 in the first 6 months. Now maintaining around 4. MO says that is good as long as it is not increasing. I have many mets, spine and ribs, but none causing any distress.
