Hi folks

I have been on Zoladex for 2& 1/2 years & my PSA has gone from 0.01 to 0.2 It could be 3 - 4weeks before my next Onc appointment, I know you generally need at least 2 PSA tests before you get a clear picture on ones PC but my next Zoladex injection is due next week do I still just go a head with it will it have any effect on my next treatment still having a 3 month injection or is it better to ask for a monthly injection instead.

Cheers

I would have the injection. If your PSA rises again maybe it's time to add another ADT drug like casodex or abiraterone.

Ok thanks I guess it would be ok to have 2 different ones in your system.

It's done quite frequently.

Hello,

I would stay on the Zoladex. It is an agonist. The only monthly shot that I know about is Firmagon. It is an antagonist. Different mechanism of action. I have been on both and prefer Zoladex. It serves as a good base down the road when you may need to add Abiraterone or Enzalutamide. Good luck!

Yep think I'll leave it at the 3 monthly injection.

Thanks

Better to get a 6-month injection these days.

I think in the UK its only 1 or 3 months.

I’m still on Zoladex after about 7 years, I’ve had other treatment while on it, Enzalutamide and Radiation a few times for mets to lymph node and spots on my hip (PSA 30 then dropping to 5). My MO said that Zoladex stops the body producing testosterone.

Hi Ausi Wow 7yrs is great, has your PSA gone up while you have been on Zoladex.

I’m not sure how well it’s working, yes, like you my PSA after initially coming down, kept going up but probably slower than if I was not on it. As mentioned the MO said it stops the body producing testosterone, other ADTs stop the tumore and pathways (I think). I’ve had to have other recent treatment, as mentioned. I’m presently PSA 3.9 which was after radiation of a couple of spots in Dec. PSA then was 16. I’ve had 3 series of radiation treatment last year, about 30 days each series.

I’m surprised you’re not getting more responses as there are some pretty smart blokes that know more. I think TA (Tall Allen) has posted more about Zoladex previously. Good luck.
