Anti-inflammatory for PCa and Covid?

This Australian company, Noxopharm, has had some success in trials with its anti-inflammatory drug, Veyonda. Now, it looks like there might be some crossover benefits in Covid-19 treatment (see link):

Don't know if this drug might be of benefit to those of us hoping to delay/suppress recurrence; the PCa trials for Veyonda have focused on the sickest patients. While we're waiting for this drug to make it's way through the approval process, does anyone see a downside for using anti-inflammatory supplements?

Some other anti inflammatory meds such as Celebrex ,a COX2 inhibitor has already known to have anti cancer effect.

Veyonda is a new addition to a long list of anti inflammatory medicines . Interestingly, spices and herbs such as Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Boswellia etc ...all have anti inflammatory effect and do cause same benefit with much less chances of side effects .

I know many other members will disagree and say these spices have side effects too. Billions of people all over the world eat these spices every day in their natural, powdered form and we hardly ever hear ...some body died because he was eating Ginger or Turmeric.

I believe that keeping systemic inflammation as low as possible (ideally CRP less than 0.2) is an effective strategy to boost our fight against prostate cancer. This is just my opinion based on ample reading of available research and my own personal experience.

If turmeric is so bad...why MD Anderson cancer center has a separate division just to research turmeric..Seems like they want to make a chemical in such a form that increases bioavailablity and is very complex ...so the price of $20000 a month can be justified. We have had lot of discussion about turmeric on this forum but agents of big pharma continue to badmouth a totally fine food item which is eaten daily by 1.3 Billion Indians and 1.3 billion Chinese plus another one billion people in rest of the world.

SPICES ARE GREAT, have used for decades, the issue is that some can MASK/LOWER PSA results. My first bone scan lit-up due to my arthritis but thanks to the copious amounts of spices the inflammation AND PAIN was kept at bay: HOWEVER, there was most likely a false result of the PSA I had when it was only 14+ with my GLEASON 10, actually could have been double as throughout the years of testing.

I am now under orders by my doctor to discontinue the spices 1 week before my next PSA as one discontinues blood thinners/supplements/spices before surgery.

The effectiveness of my food protocol has been such that I've been able to delay knee replacements, left wrist replacement and left shoulder replacement 10/20+ years. Finally had a total right shoulder replacement 20 years after PT failed and the movement became too restrictive. Diet overcame the pain but could not rectify the bone on bone range of motion issues. Have had to discontinue my marathons and even 5K because of knees but manage to continue 100+ mile bicycle rides thanks to rotation instead of impact compression.

If you had this level of severe wear and tear of your joints.. healing can not happen with spices ...because of permannet loss of cartilages and bone surface erosion.

I have tried checking PSA 3 days after stopping extra spices and my reading came the same. Some spices are part of my regular food so can not stop.

The inclusion of spices was for the mitigation of inflammation and pain NOT in an effort to repair.

Inflammation can be desirable response to some acute conditions, but never [IMO] in chronic conditions such as cancer. Sub-clinical inflammation, which many people have, turns out to be a killer.

There have been studies of men who do not do well on a particular PCa therapy, & sub-clinical inflammation is a good predictor.

Inflammation can, & should, be treated - because inflammation has a negative effect on 5-year survival.

All of the common polyphenols that have been discussed here [1] have an inhibitory effect on NF-kB activation, which is responsible for the COX/LOX enzymes that act on arachidonic acid to create inflammatory metabolites.

Recently, there has been a thread on 5-LOX & the inhibitor 5-LOXIN.

I use turmeric (curcumin) supplements for my inflammatory form of arthritis. I have read that it can mask PSA numbers, but I couldn't survive without it IMO. I am on an ADT holiday, which I hope to be permanent.

NOTE that I had some CTC testing done AND turmeric/curcumin was identified as an anti-cancer agent for MY type of PCa. IF you fear triggering false PSA numbers while testing it, then I would suggest stopping for a week, then resuming .....
