Veyonda: A drug to stop COVID 19???

Yesterday NOX announced that in combination with the Hudson Research Institute in Melbourne, they have discovered that the active drug in Veyonda appears capable of shutting down the cytokine storm that contributes to multi-organ failure and death in COVID 19 patients.

NOX offered my late brother compassionate access to Veyonda during his time in palliative care. Sadly, his MO team wouldn't allow it, and thus made certain his death. I suspect that NOX will offer their drug on compassionate grounds whilst they are progressing its approval via the FDA. (THey already have IND status).

I expect the Australian Government to fully fund the progress of Veyonda in a coronavirus setting.

What's your opinion about ace2 blood pressure drugs and Covid-19?

I ask because I saw the following and you seem to generally be pretty knowledgeable.

"The cells that SARS-CoV-2 prefers to infect have a protein called ACE2 on the outside that is important for regulating blood pressure."

Thanks for the explanation. One learns every day. The papers referenced by MateoBeach are also very informative, particularly as I suffer from permanent AF and hypertension.

Remarkably the share price of NOX hardly moved when they announced the likely importance of idronoxil in COVID - 19 therapy.
