Hi everyone, I'm 58 and diagnosed in Dec 2019 with Stage IV, GS 9, PSA 50. It spread into my Bladder, blocked my left Ureter and formed 3 Mets on my Pelvis. I am on daily Casodex, 3 monthly Eligard, completed 3 Docetaxel IVs and had a Ureter stent inserted.

I have just received the Pathology results and Radiologist analysis from a CT scan. My PSA has dropped to 2.7, the size of the tumour in my prostrate has been reduced my 32%, pelvic mets stable/unchanged, left kidney has returned to normal size, no mention of bladder. A good result but still a ways to go.

The Oncologist was quite unconcerned about the pelvis and bladder which I found strange. He believes the docetaxel has now killed the pelivc and bladder cancers, and likened the areas where the cancer was to scar tissue. I was wondering what this forum thinks? I would like to believe him but his apathy and casual manner has me suspicious. As I have the Ureter stent, I asked him to get the Radiologist to revisit the scans to provide some analysis on the status of the bladder tumour as I am hopeful of getting the stent out after I complete the 6 docetaxel cycles.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to everyone here for providing such a valuable source of information and support on PCa. This group has given me the knowledge and confidence to interact with these Medical professionals, to ask the right type of questions with a view of getting better outcomes. Thank you all, cheers DD 😎

Yes, the shrunken metastases do leave scar tissue. But you still have metastatic prostate cancer, unfortunately. Scans can only show what is big enough to see. I'm glad the blockage has been relieved.

The bladder is more vulnerable than the rest. The best way to find what is happening there-in is through cystoscopy

Docetaxel took care of the tumors in my bladder, around my kidney and in the pelvic bone. Nothing seen on the follow-up PET scan.

Only a few of the lymph nodes and the prostate gland now show some tumor residue.

Sounds like you are responding well. Hopefully you will get that stent removed in due course.

Radiation to the pelvic area is what was recommended to me after the Docetaxel.

We are in this for the long haul, so get prepared mentallly, physically and spiritually.

All the best!

Hey Dosey! Let that chemo push the pc away ... I came out of even a worse urology than you . I shit down with ox tumors blocking bladder and urethra . 8!weeks imrt and double adt took it away and after over a year of tubes foleys and stints I shed it all . Hallelujah! I went into and have stayed in remission over four years now. I wish you the same luck . To push pc down for as long as we can . If lucky e can live many years with APC .Our urology is so critical to quality of life . Do anything to feel better . You good will serve you well and bring you through . 🙏👍

Will get hubby’s insights on your situation and share. He has a wonderful oncologist and is doing very well. Your progress sounds encouraging but I understand your dilemma with your doc. as we ran into a similar problem previously. Hang in there!

DD,

I had a conversation recently that had some similarity. I was diagnosed in 4/19 and had SBRT radiation on (3) areas of my spine/pelvis.

The recent conversation is "the tumors look good; they look dead". It is discomforting to be pointing to them and watching them.

For me it was part of getting used to treating this as chronic disease - because it beat the alternative.

All the Best
