To take or not to take

So just a question here, I was about to add Resveratrol but came across this…anyone taking this and have an opinion? I got this information off Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Patients with hormone-sensitive cancers should use caution, as resveratrol—at concentrations between 3 and 10 uM, similar to those needed for its other biological effects—exhibits estrogen-like properties and activates transcription by both estrogen and androgen receptors that lead to the stimulation of cancer cell proliferation.

Ok thanks for that response. I think it was just a information post and not part of a clinical trial. I will have to go back and look. Sorry about that.

Micronised resveratrol was, I believe, one of the first supplements that Dr. Myers recommended. He mentioned in a vlog post that patients that used it experienced tangible benefit. I can't locate that, but see: youtube.com/watch?v=kltZ0qB...

I think cancer patients are crazy to add supplements of unknown safety and efficacy. You may think there is a benefit based on effects in mice or other cancers, but what do you really know about its effect on prostate cancer in men? These lab studies showed it caused greater cancer cell proliferation at certain concentrations:

The minimum dose of resveratrol given in these studies was 50 mg/day. I was curious what level is in a glass of wine:

"Red wines have a resveratrol content (per 5-oz glass) of 0.03-1.07 mg in contrast to the 0.01-0.27 mg for white wines."

So, with that small amount of resveratrol you can still enjoy a glass of wine with dinner!

I read the dose at 50 or 100mg per kilogram of body weight
