the drugs are:

Hydroxychloroquine Uses, Dosage & Side Effects - Drugs.com

Hydroxychloroquine is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus and to prevent and treat malaria.

AND

ITRACONAZOLE (Lozanoc)

Itraconazole is an antifungal medication that is used in adults to treat infections caused by fungus. This includes infections in any part of the body including the lungs, mouth or throat, toenails, or fingernails. Hi George,

My husband was referred by his prostrate cancer specialist to Professor Joshua for consideration to be included for the trial using these two drugs. We met with Professor Joshua in April 2019 at St Vincent's but on reviewing my husband's details he said the trial would absolutely not be suitable due to the aggressive nature of my husband's PC with mets etc and that to include him would definitely not be in his best interest. I can't quite recall the exact conversation but my understanding was that the trial was meant for those in a different stage of this condition. I did have some background information on the trial before the meeting and if you are interested I could do a bit of a search and try to locate it for you.

Regards, Marnie

I wonder if it can be done for rising PSA and no visable mets -- to slow progression ?

Hi George,

I've found all the info re the trial but it's in PDF and I don't seem to be able to copy and paste so if you are interested in details other than what I've provided just ask. I've summarised.

'Trial for men with biochemical recurrent prostrate cancer without metastatic disease on standard imaging will be recruited'......so this answers your question.

Also -

Can have had treatment - radical prostatectomy, radiotherapy (including brachytherapy) or both, with curative intent

PSA > 1 with at least 2 sequential rises at least 1 week apart

T > 5

Adequate renal and liver function

Adequate bone marrow function

Hope this is helpful.

Regards, Marnie

We should not outright reject such findings as there is possibility that soon we will have cheaper, older meds rediscovered as cancer fighters. The negative reaction from big pharma and its agents is testimony to the fact that they are worried about their billion dollar profits

I asked my Urologist about use of ketoconazole (in same family as itrakenazole) and he said "you dont need ketoconazole ..in some severe cases where bone marrow is in danger,,some Oncologists use it off label." So yes, there is possible anti cancer effect in anti fungal medication Ketoconazole works by inhibiting testosterone production and few other ways.

As for anti malarials, there has been lots of whispering for a few years but solid proof is not yet available, Hydroxychloroquin is used worldwide by billions of peoplefor Malaria, Rare side effect is retinal problems.

What I have been reading said that Itraconazole did not lower T levels but slowed doubling time and lowered PSA in nearly half the cases.

I'm wondering if taking Hydroxychloroquin with the dog worm med might help it work better also.

My husband’s Oncologist at Care Oncology had him add 60 mg of itraconazole recently. He’s also on 100 mg of mebendazole, 3000 metformin, 40 mg statin (will return to 80 mg if liver function ok) and 100 mg doxy. Intravenous Vitamin C 125 grams weekly, lots of supplements and he’s vegan. Charlie’s cancer has been very aggressive. He’s not on lupron or any other meds.

Liver function recently showed he’s handling all very well. Watching closely.

He had two bone metastasis in August. SBRT to both. PSA went from 1.31 to .21 clear PET Scan. Hoping PSA done today will show PSA still coming down.

That is great news on your husband. what did his doctor say about adding the arthritis meds (Hydroxychloroquine) to the mix?

It sounds like your husband has a very good forward thinking doctor.
