You have our prayers, both of you. Glad to hear his pc treatment is working well. I'm 15 months on the same with psa @ 0.01 for quite some time.

Enjoy every minute...I need to remind myself that too.

Prayers for the both of you (and family and friends). From what I'm told by many people and Doctors (at the hospital for Special Surgery in NYC) Hip replacements are fairly routine today and much easier than knee replacements. Rehab is also easier.

My husband had a hip replacement and it was the best thing he could have done. He was only 2 years into the diagnosis so we did a device that needed the blood capillaries to grow into it. That worked then. If he needs one now we will use the cement. They are also doing many new things I'm not familiar with. This was in 2009. We never looked back. I did not send him to rehab. I took care of him at home.

As someone said, they are good at hip replacements .. and much easier to heal than knee.

it was a quick recovery..

Thank you. The Surgeon did mention cement too. Said may Options but wouldn’t know until I got inside it will make my husband’s quality of life so much better he’s moving around all day long but he does have to take rest because the hip starts hurting. Glad to hear your husband did well

They only use cement when they run out of duct tape......

In response to Duct Tape... I travel only by train when going cross country or long distances. One thing I learned is to travel with duct tape...

you may have to cover air conditioning vents that blow freezing cold into your sleeper whether it be summer or winter.. for your bags.. to keep your door from sliding open and closed..

yes, I can see the surgeon's need.. we've invested in duct tape companies when I heard how it was used during surgery !!! made millions so far...

but, in this case.. I do think he's going to use glue.. ya think? hehe

in reply toBluebird11

Duct tape iS King .

to BB,

Depends on the glue.... Super or Gorilla? I used to use duct tape and vaseline during sex ..... Tape my ex-wifes mouth shut... and vaseline on the bedroom door knobs so my kids couldn't turn the knobs... I agree trains are better than planes.....

May the Power of Nature heal your husband. We can see he is loved, because you want our prayers, so may he be healed, and not suffer much during hip joint op and afterwards.

Praying that the hip replacement goes smoothly, with no complications and a rapid recovery.... that the pc will continue to be held at bay....and that both of you will be blessed with continue faith, strength, comfort and reassurance, as well as, sweet moments of life together.

Am sure the hip replacement will go well. Just got to do the exercises as often as possible and recovery will be fine. I have just had a total knee replacement and I would have 6 hip replacements instead of that - I had one hip done about 9 years ago and it was so easy and much less pain compared to the knee. 6 weeks after the hip I was pretty much back to normal. I am nearly 5 weeks from knee op and far from back to normal - they say it can take 3 months. Thankfully my other knee seems fine but my other hip should need doing at some time. Will be praying for you.

I was just talking to a man yesterday who had prostate cancer and a hip replacement last year. He said his hip replacement went well with very little pain. I wish the same for your husband. He has my prayers,

Sharon,

In my "cancer Journey" diet, exercise and prayer now define my success for near 12 years.

God of every cell in our bodies, be with Sharon's husband, and all husbands, brothers, sons, fathers and the science of Thy creation improves our survival and our quality of life. Some day we will be able to control the mutant cells of prostate cancer with the help of brave men, the women who love and support us and medical teams with God-given dedication. Until then grant us the peace and joy of Thy miraculous faith, hope and love.

Amen

I had a hip replacement 9 years ago and it was fantastic. I'm also on Zytiga and had both knees replaced while on it, without issue.

Best of luck!

I had my knee replaced while having been on ADT for 4 years (intermittently). Surgery went well and although I wish my knee result was better than it is, the ADT had no impact and the surgery has left me better off than I was before. In addition, as others have stated, the hip replacements end up with much better results overall than the knees and the rehab and recovery is easier.

Best wishes.
