I try to pray, light incense and give thanks...EVERY day. Today I have lighted extra incense, while playing this chant, for everyone here on the journey .
PEACE BE WITH YOU. ๐

Best of luck on this journey. A fellow traveler.
I DO prefer calling it a "journey" (not a battle)...I don't feel very soldier-like...nor do I want to fight...I want to steadily climb enjoying the view from every vista. And best of luck to you, fellow traveler....we'll see what's around the bend! Today is beautiful.
gassho greatjohn brother
Not sure what that means ๐
A ritual gesture of Eastern origin, with hands pressed together in front of the chest. When performed with a bow, it is called gassho rei. Origin : Japanese.
Gassho from "gatsu" = unite and "sho"= palm.
You have a picture of an alter, you have a Nichern Buddhist chant ... you say you are praying. Gassho is many things , one of them the clasped hands slight bowed head ritual recognition when meeting others . Means respect and recognition .
Iโm many things, a retired Soto Zen minister / priest being one of them. Studied formal monastic Zen training for over 35 years. Retired now.
Or Gassho could be Santa Clause after eating a bowl of beans ....
Ok. Lots of laughs here. Thanks for the education everyone. I thought it was a typo. Enjoy.
Dunno if you are familiar with that beloved bakery in Palm Plaza, the La Boulangerie. Patrick , once the founder and long time owner ( now retired) ... is also a long time ordained Soto Zen monastic member ( Shasta Abbey, Mt Shasta , Ca ). I conducted the Meditation group here in town in the 80s and early 90s ... Patric took over and conducted them for a long time as well.
Just fyi
these "TID BITS" make us all seem more human...and not just cancer patients and numbers....thanks! I tell people as one gets older, younger people tend to only see what is "now"...they do not look at someone in their 60's / 70's / 80's as the multitude of talents, skills, etc....they used to be....they only see "old".
I remember, many years ago, being pulled over by a policeman. When he walked up to my window I remember thinking "How in the world can this child be a police man?" That is when I realized, for the first time, time is no longer on my side. I have enjoyed myself since then (except for several unexpected tragedies), and I am enjoying myself today. I enjoy this site for the info (are you smarter than your MO), the give and take, when it doesn't get into the gutter, and the laughs. I despair when we hear of the last days of one of us. This is life, as we know it. Enjoy.
Back to you John. I say my prayers every morning after I wake because Iโve been given another day. Keep up the fight
Being thankful is the greatest gift we can have.
As Elton John song went..."I'm still standing".
All the best,
gJohn
