I know 2 guys who used it for hot flashes; one, it didn't help for that.
I had great results with it during radiation . Then one day the needles felt like knifes . I had her pull them out . Never tried it again . I have weird neauropathy and random shots of pain still . Before that I found accupunture relaxing and helpful ..
My oncologist said I might try acupuncture for my hot flashes. I found several meta-analyses that pointed to the probability that any reported success is likely due to the placebo effect. I told my doc, who chuckled and said, "Well, it definitely won't work for you now."
Tried it for hot flashes but found it ineffectual. However it has been effective for me as a stress reliever and for pain management. Response is very individual. I suggested it to a friend who tried several sessions and had no response.
It worked for me, hot flashes completely disappeared and energy was increased (something about getting energy from adrenal glands.) . Probably depends on the acupuncturist you're working with.
It worked great for my husband’s hot flashes. The acupuncturist needs to know where to put the needles for the hot flashes though. He did it at Sloan Kettering.
