I understand that bone met pain is a possible effect of PCA. I've had localized pain successfully treated with radiation. What about when the mets seriously start to ripping the bones apart? are opoids the only answer or has acupuncture worked at all? I would hate to spend my last days drugged out on a morphine drip. If that is the only option, so be it, but I'd like to know if there are options.

Bone Met Pain and Acupuncture
I hope you are taking Zometa or Xgeva (with Celebrex) to prevent fractures and spinal compression. Xofigo usually alleviates bone pain.
I haven't heard of acupuncture for bone met pain, but there is no harm in trying it. I know that it has successfully been used for hot flashes.
I guess part of it is I'm unclear how acupuncture works. I know the pain sensation is transmitted through nerves and I guess if you block the nerve transmission in some way you won't feel the pain. How this is accomplished and how long it can be prolonged? Anesthesia chemically deadens the nerves as do opiods. I was just curious about the way acupuncture works and the length of its efficacy.
I have bulging disks in my neck. I go to NIH and the 🐈 scan, bone scan, and pet scan is done every 12 weeks. Recently they gave me a yearly Zometa treatment. My bone density shows osteopenia and specifically osteoporosis in one vertebrae. I have had a .02 PSA for 3 years. I am 6 years out. I'm in a trial of Xtandi and Lupron. Most of my radiology says that the bone and lymph node involvement has dried up. They say I have arthritis everywhere. I take aspirin for bone pain. Sometimes the pain is quite severe. Can't seem to convince doctor's to give me celebrex. I wonder how I can get it...any thoughts?
My long time friend, a retired MD in British Columbia, who in Practice was the only MD authorized Federally and Provincially to prescribe CBD for painin. Ritish Columbia, who also suffered from severe lower back pain, tells me that each person Has to recognize the point at which they are becoming addictive. Yes, even rubbing oils on ones back CBD can become addictive. He experienced that himself; recognized the symptom and stopped using the product.
