The prices for Lu 177 in Germany

Hi,

I just found this interesting website:

bookinghealth.com/programs/...

My husband had 3 treatments in Vienna, Austria, for 14.000 € each, since the 6th of March 2019. The Professor Markus Hartenbach was the only one, who accepted to treat him with Lutetium 177, though my husband had no ADT before. He had only a prostatectomy in November 2018, and 6 biochemical mets since January 2019 (detected by a rising PSA and a Ga68 PSMA pet/ct).

In Vienna, you go home immediatly after the treatment (about after one hour). So you must not stay in a hospital.

My husband has a Gleason 9, stage 4, but no bone mets. Ten days after the third treatment in Vienna, his PSA is now 0.67. The highest PSA after the prostatectomy was 4.40. And before the surgery it was 11.80.

We expect and hope that the PSA will continue to drop now after the third treatment of August 1st. My hubby is now like he was before, and has no fatigue or other side effects at all after the 3 treatments. We are very thankful for this!

Congratulations on the good results. I think having read quite a bit on Lu-177, the reasons for the good results could be as follows :- 1) Your husband did not do "chemo" before Lu-177. Neither did he do ADT. 2) His tumors must have been mainly lymph node tumors, not bone tumors.

Still I am astonished that he has had no salivary gland problem whatsoever.

Cheers and all the very best to your husband !!!

Good morning.

How are you and how is your health?

Is there any evidence that NOT having chemo BEFORE doing the Lu 177 gives a more favourable result?

I have had 4 ADT treatments (on intermittent basis).

Sincere thanks.

Mike

Hi MKC, can’t quote the exact numbers but my husband has completed 2/3 Lu177 treatments at Fortis in Delhi, India with Dr Sen and my husband has never had Chemo. Our Dr at Mayo said to get Lu177 so it’s not like we did Lu177 without a doctors recommendation.

My husband has responded incredibly well. Data says Lu177 works better before chemo. My husbands lesions were nasty. He had 4 that kept coming back on his spine. After the first lu177 his low tumor burden shrunk 76 %. After the second he’s undetectable. There’s evidence this treatment sooner than later may be better but please ask your doc and do your own research. I’m certainly no expert.

In the list of hospitals mentioned, there is no mention of Bad Berka, Germany ??

Claud68 profile image

That's right! Alle the other hospitals on this website are University hospitals. Maybe Bad Berka isn't a University hospital?

Congratulations!!. I had Lu 177 PSMA treatment in 2016 at Technical University of Munich. I was hormone sensitive at that time.

Best of luck.

Thanks, tango 65! Are you still without any treatment since 2016? And how long it lastet untill your PSA dropped to be undetectable?

Hi Tango65. München turned us down since my husband had never had Chemo. He is hormone sensitive but no chemo. Not sure if they had those rules before you went?

It was different since I was castration sensitive and I never had chemo. I thought you went to India and got treated in Delhi. Any reason not to go back to India?

I believe there are other places in Europe where you could get treatment with a castration sensitive cancer and without previous treatment with chemo.

We are really happy with Dr Sen in India. I was just curious since we talked to TUM in Munich and weren’t accepted as patients if they had changed their requirements.

That’s is absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for the information!❤️ My husband just went off 16 months of Lupron to see if radiation 14 months ago had worked. He developed two bone Mets right away. He’s not hormone resistant yet so Mayo made it clear he does not qualify for US studies. I can not tell you all what you have done for us sharing your stories. Thank you Claud68 for showing us an example of prior to hormones. There aren’t many so means a lot to my husband and I trying to prepare. His radiologist thinks there will be a round two of Mets.

Hey Claud68 you can avoid booking health and use work with the hospital directly if money is a concern? Homburg quoted me $6800 euros for full treatment but I think booking health is $13,000 E. I do really like the $200,000 health insurance policy though with bookinghealth! There are some nice benefits!

You've been also thinking about the combo treatment Lu-177 plus actinium 225? Maybe it is better for treating bone mets?

We would be happy if Book health quoted us that they wanted 25.779 for one tx at Helios in Berlin-Buch. Do you have info on Hospital who you contacted or any emails. Thanks

It seems to be very expensive. We paid in Vienna 14000 € for each Lu177-injection.

We are very comfortable traveling. We go to India. A consigner meets us getting off the plane and escorts us through all the customs and Covid red tape. This is a free service of Fortis Memorial. We are put in a taxi to the Westin. The hotel puts us in a BMW to the hospital $9 each way. The hospital staff speaks English very well. Dr Sen trained in Germany and the US. The Lu177 comes from Germany. You really do not need to pay so much for the service IMO. We go to India and back including everything less than $8500 US including using the spa. And more importantly, my husband is undetectable.

Sincere congratulation, Godblessus! We are happy for you that the combo therapy was so successfull for you and we hope that you gained quality of life with this, much more than with ADT and chemo.

Did you have a Ga-PSMA petscan after the treatment? And did your bone mets also shrink or disappear? How many combo treatments were necessary for your success?

Cheers!

So far only one treatment... scheduling the GaPSMA scan soon

I’m so happy for you Claudia.

My husband is undetectable thanks to Dr Sen at Fortis Memorial in Delhi India after 2 treatments in September and November of 2020. The third round is in Jan, 21. Each treatment is $5500 US. We stay in a gorgeous suite at the Westin for $150 a night. The flight from Newark is great. The paperwork to travel under Covid is through. But the results are worth the trouble.

We have been through the ringer. This is a great time in our lives having a treatment work.
