Went to see oncologist today, she mentioned instead of traveling from pa. To Indiana they are doing the scan in
Gettysburg which is a lot closer to us. Does any one know if the Lu-177 scan is called the Axumin scan. I called the hospital in Gettysburg where they are supposed to have the machine that scans for PSMA and they never heard of it.. Too late to call my dr, hopping she was right about them having the scan there.??

Lu-177-PSMA-617 is not a scan, it is a treatment. Ga-68-PSMA-11 is the chemical used in a PET scan. It is very different from the Axumin PET scan. While the hospital needs to have a PET scan machine with a CT, they also need to have a fresh batch of the Ga-68-PSMA-11 chemical to inject. This has to be made up fresh because it is radioactive and loses potency with time. You can't just show up and expect to get it. Call to arrange it. Here's the contact info for Gettysburg:

Hi Allen, Thank you once again for getting back to me ASAP. Saw Sam's regular oncologist today.. She cancelled the chemo Sam was to have. She told
us it was not working from the results of the scan Sam had this past week. We will be going into philly this coming week to see this dr, there at Jefferson, we saw him once before..He will be making all the arrangements for us. We will be able to get all the infusions there at Jefferson in philly after the scan. I sure hope Sam qualifies... fingers crossed!
When I need help and the right information I know who to contact.. Thanks again Allen.. This eased my mind and Sam's too.
Good excellent info. I’m getting scheduled for 1. Ga-64-PSMA-11 PET/CT scan in Indianapolis ASAP. Yes I do know LU-177PSMA-617 is a treatment for use once 1st PSMA is done. Thxs Tall_Allen
Hi, My husband is also getting the scan.. Do you live near Indiana?? We are in Pa.. Thought we were going to have to fly to Indiana but found out yesterday that they are doing the scans in Gettysburg, , which is only maybe a two and a half hour from us. Let us know how you make out,? keep us posted.
Yes, Fort Wayne, IN. Trying to get my Insurance ok’d for the Ga64-PSMA-11 PET/CT scan facility. It’s an IIU Health Medical Neurosciences building Imaging center in the basement. So far its frustrating just getting the darn Insurance pre-authorization done...
Glad you got the insurance thing resolved.. Please keep us posted how the scan goes and you're treatment. Hopefully, all goes well and my husband will be going soon for the scan. We will be driving to Gettysburg.
Ronnie, Lynn, Just wanted to let you two know that yes My 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT was done successfully Aug 1st at The IU Neuroscience Research Center Radiology and Imaging Center Goodman Hall(basement of course) best place to keep Nuclear radioactive isotopes and chemicals. My Radiopharmaceutical chemist assistant professor is Mr. Mark Green-Phd. He and I talked about the Lu-177-PSMA-617 treatment procedure. Yes He knows about it a LOT! But he emphasized I was not a candidate for it yet. Not yet that’s good news ... BUt hear this that Procedure the ‘Lu-177’ radio-injection is progressing rapidly in the USA. 2020 should be a landmark years for Lutetium-177 Cancer metasisising patients like yourself. I’m ready excited to know more about all the Cancer Attacking scientific studies, not just studies but actually irradiating this deadly disease.
Like I said my husband and I were so disappointed that he. qualified, but was not excepted. Plus everything was being paid for...all updated Scans, blood work. Transpiration. Meals and lodging...Pet/ct scan. can't wait for it to be approved by the FDA.. Our MO said then he could get it and give it to my husband...it's still in third faze ... We were so concentrating on Sam having the PSMA that we forgot that 66% ate not excepted for the infusions. We can't afford to travel out of the country, wish we could start over. Ha!
