Hello all. Heard about the news of Novartis delay on production. Would anyone know if this is affecting the Australian trial? Would anyone have the contact info for the Australian trial, by chance? Thanks!
Australian Trial LU-177?: Hello all... - Advanced Prostate...
Australian Trial LU-177?
There are many trials in OZ. If the trial is for Pluvicto (177 Lu-PSMA-617), the trial will be delayed, but if it is for a different radiopharmaceutical (like 177LU-PSMA-I&T) it may not be. Check with the trial investigator.
I just had Lu-PSMA treatment in Australia. No problem with isotope and radio-ligand supplies. Their isotopes are produced predominantly in Germany and the Netherlands and supplies seem currently stable. (I&T and J591 ligands anyway)Depends on very well timed flights of supply to meet treatment dates from Europe.
Much of world supply of medical radio-isotopes came from Russia, and of course that is now interrupted. (This Affects Ac225 more than Lu177 and various other targeted isotope therapies now in trials.). So yes, treatments are available in Australia. Peter Mac in Victoria and GenesisCare in Sydney and in Perth, etc.

It’s the Prostselect act trial, it’s run by Telix with LUT 177 TLX 591. An antibody is added. It’s 2 injections 2 weeks apart but you’ll need to have PET PSMA scans and CT. I think they require you to be there after for quite a few weeks after for blood etc. There are pre conditions ie you need to be mCRPC. and have had Enza or Abi.
The trials web site shows the contact as Genesis in West Australia (Perth) but it’s also run out of Sydney and Brisbane. I’m hoping to get in it but the soonest I get jabbed will be late July.
You may not qualify here as a non Oz citizen. Failing that conventional LUT 177 is $AUD 10,000 a dose which converts to $USD 7,500. As TA replied above, no delay other than 2 weeks or so ordering.
Good luck
The antibody has been known as J591. Telix bought the rights to it in Australia and rebranded as TLX591. Same thing. You are free to fly on the 2nd day after injection and they give you a letter to get through airport security. The two weeks is the time between the two treatments per the protocol. Flying to Oz is the most expensive part of it for me and the most difficult. So I just stayed there for the two weeks and enjoyed Australia. It was not required. No quarantine and no hospital stays. The cost for both treatments came to $11,000 US$. I did not qualify for the trial. Expect it may work even better in HSPC with very low tumor burden after SBRT and very low PSA. Hoping so anyway.
