Thanks for posting Myriammole.... Doxy and Vitamin C are one of those things that I plan on pulling out of the playbook if I ever get an ADT vacation....

What’s Doxy?

it's an antibiotic (doxycycline). My huband plans to take a month on a month off plus taking probiotics for gut flora. Anyway this antibiotic is not too harsh on your gut.

What’s the evidence or at least theory that it will help with PC ?

Why wait. ADT doesn't attack CSC so you could try to do both, no?

Currently, I do take-5 Loxin inhibitor which both Patrick and Nalakrats take--see below:

healthunlocked.com/advanced...

I do love it when Nalakrats says the following: I use 5-Loxin which is the identified Antioxidant Molecule in Frankincense. If it was good enough for Jesus, it is good enough for me. ... Me too, Nal--amen

From Patrick--pjoshea13:

healthunlocked.com/advanced...

I have concerns about taking Doxycycline while on Zytiga because of the following:

Doxycycline is metabolized in the liver and gastrointestinal tract and concentrated in bile. Abiraterone acetate is also metabolized in the liver. Thus, I will wait...

I can not find the defined dose for doxycycline--is it 100 mg PO BID--normal dose for most infections--or higher... and as for Vitamin C--I have seen articles that say about 5,000 mg per day is necessary for antitumor effect... Anyone know the answer??

Just a few thoughts...TGIF....

I have been taking 100mg doxycycline daily alongside 1000mg Zytiga for six months, with the doxy being off/on every other month (alternating with mebendazole)... thus far, no big liver issues.

My PSA remains undetectable (post eSRT) so I don’t know if it’s doing anything - but it seems to me to be the right time to stay on top of any stray CSCs left wandering around.

How much Vitamin C??

No more than I get from a healthy diet. I use doxycycline as part of th Care Oncology protocol, which has no vitamin C component.

Hello Don, according to drug information summaries (brochures) doxycycline is substantially absorbed (93%) and rapidly in the upper part of the digestive tract. It is excreted unchanged by the renal system. I read previously that doxycycline bypassed the intestinal tract but this does not appear to be correct - it can affect the microbiome, and some cases reduce inflammation in the gut (this is not to say that it does not cause dysbiosis) (PMID: 24687497) Doxycycline can be used as an anti-inflammatory and as an antibiotic. The dosage for the anti inflammatory effect is 40 mg and as an antibiotic, 100 mg. According to a clinical trial (see ClinicalTrials.gov) that is being conducted based on the COC protocol the dosage for doxycycline is 100 mg (PMID: 17315050 and others).

And finally, in order to induce oxidative stress in cancer stem cells, after pre exposure to an antibiotic like doxycycline, intravenous vitamin C will be more effective than oral vitamin C (PMID: 28978032).

Cheers, Phil

I have mentioned this before but look up Doxycycline + Azithromycin+ vitamin C in a paper by Lisanti. Getting to the required 250umol vit C orally can be done. My best guess is a gram per hour of vit C plus a gram per hour of DHAA. Look up how to make DHAA on YouTube from zucchini skins and vit C. I have now accumulated all I need and will trial this within the next week or so.

Had a PSA about a month ago. 1.25 post HIFU 10 months back. About 40% ablation. PSA range 1 to 1.4. will get a PSA after my experiment.

Excellent--This is how we gather some validity from n=1 experiments...one person tries and has success...several others try and have success...People tell their MO or Lisanti and a clinical trial begins...the best would be a CTC before and after.... but a PSA should have some change as well...

Best of luck....

Thank you for posting. Like Don Pescado, I am also considering doxycycline and intravenous vitamin C. I plan to run a trail with this later this year. There is also the COC protocol to consider - statin+metformin+doxycycline+mebendazole or febendazole. I am already on a statin (Crestor) and metformin. Cheers, Phil

Phil,

I hope you are running a trial, but running a trail is also good IMHO. Will you take a before and after PSA to determine efficacy? I will be interested in your results...indeed, we are all our own personal lab rat...an experiment....I hope it works...please keep us posted.... Someone could opt out for liposomal C instead of IV Vitamin C---I am looking for a Naturopath--part of my research this weekend...SOC doesn't believe in IV Vitamin C...

Hello Don, Yes I determine the PSA before and after a trial. It is important to obtain a good baseline either with a flat or slightly increasing or slightly decreasing PSA trend line. If the linear correlation coefficient of 4 PSA results 4 to 6 weeks apart is 0.85 or better (preferably >0.95, but difficult) then the baseline is good and statistically meaningful conclusions can be made. If for example the linear equation estimated that the PSA is 5 ng/ml and you obtained a result of 4 after 4 to 6 weeks on the trial then you might be able to say that the treatment slowed the rise - subsequent tests at later dates may confirm the trend. Naturopaths can do the intravenous vitamin C. Cheers, Phil

Yes....Naturopaths are doing Vitamin C IV infusions. My issue is to find a good Naturopath....where I am at, I am lucky to have a good MD.....my MO is at Cleveland Clinic--3 hour drive...Nalakrats gave me a site to check for one...if I could find one in Pittsburgh---1 hour away, that would be fine...

Since finishing chemo (Docetaxel) in Sept 2018 I starting alternating Doxycycline (100mg) and Mebendazole monthly in combo with IV Vit C (75g) twice weekly for the first 3 months, a month off in Jan 2019 and then weekly until May 2019 to target stem cells. PET scan in April showed good tumour reduction compared with first PET scan in Jan 2018. No liver, kidney or inflammatory marker issues to date. Couldn't afford to continue IV Vit C at NZ$315 (US$210) per shot so am now trying to gather the ingredients for Jane McLellands "How To Starve Cancer" suggestions (weaken and whack) . Saving IV Vit C for the "kill phase", maybe 2 weeks of 3 x/wk after a few months. Monitoring liver and kidneys a bit more closely initially too. This study below showed poor results from 60 g IV Vit C. Cheers, Ross

Thank you for posting the IVC reference. I missed this one. In combination with other drugs it should be more effective. Cheers, Phil
