A certain wave length of light from probs in the prostate trigger the chemicals that kill PC cells. A new treatment idea for low level PC.

The optimal photodynamic ablative therapy for prostate cancer requires the development of an agent with photosensitizing properties that is selectively taken up by prostate cancer cells. Energy-delivering probes are also required to deliver the appropriate wavelength of light energy to the photosensitizer taken up by prostate cancer cells. Ideally, the photosensitizer is rapidly cleared by the body to minimize posttreatment inconvenience.

I see the artical I posted is from 2008!! From the 2008 artical:

"A novel PDT developed by the Weizmann Institute (Rehovot, Israel) with support from STEBA Biotech N. V. (The Hague, Netherlands) is currently under investigation in many centers worldwide for treatment of both localized disease and salvage therapy following failed EBRT. WST-09 (Tookad®; STEBA Biotech N. V.), the prototype photosensitizer, is a palladium bacteriopheophorbide molecule that was synthesized from the native bacteriochlorophyll a molecule,40,41 produced in dark-growing bacteria under aerobic conditions. Great post, Luke. My urologist - a PC nerd - says he wishes he was just starting his career so that he could help move along all of the great tools that will be coming around in the next generation.

I tried for a photodynamic therapy in 2007 in London at Univetsity College Hospital. The head researcher was Mark Emberton. I was not able to participate as my lesion was within 5mm of the spincter. The agent was Tookad, devoloped in Israel and the pharma company was Steba, from France. It might be s good therapy. I thought it may have gone by the wayside as I had not heard of it for so long now.

Son of a bastard... In January 2019, at MSKcc I had Photodynamic Therapy of my scalp for precancerous lesions. It fried my scalp and the burning pain I wouldn't wish on anyone except my ex-wife.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

The idea of light killing PC is delightfull. The light is only a trigger after the actully killer medication is in place. So another trigger mechinism could also be developed.

palladium-bacteriopheophorbide

A novel palladium-substituted bacteriochlorophyll derivative and photosensitizer with potential antitumor activity. Upon administration, inactive palladium-bacteriophephorbide is activated locally when the tumor bed is exposed to photoirradiation; the activated form induces local cytotoxic processes, resulting in local tissue damage, disruption of tumor vasculature, and tumor hypoxia and necrosis. Check for active clinical trials using this agent. (NCI Thesaurus)
