Oh! Dear. My husband is declining so fast. His PSA has shot up to 260 from 120 last month. Due to begin Ztandi on Weds. He's so weak, no appetite, so very small. Cancer spread to pelvis. I fear the worse is coming. I'm trying so hard to make him confortable and me stay strong at the same time. He's like a wounded bird in the palm of someone's hand.
My Husband Declining Fast: Oh! Dear... - Advanced Prostate...
My Husband Declining Fast
You are very brave supporting and protecting your husband during this difficult time! I know how hard it is...
Our prayers are with you and your husband!🙏 May God bless you both with his Devine presence...
James
Thank you
I'm sorry to hear about your husband's situation. Xtandi is generally very effective for castrate resistant PCa so hopefully he will start improving right away.
Hello,
I had a very long and dramatic response to Xtandi (enzalutamide). My PSA went down to less than 0.008 and stayed there for many months. One tip, it does cause fatigue so be sure to take it at night. Good luck!
That's the plan to take at night.
If fatigue becomes a problem for him, Zytiga might be better. It's about equally effective as Xtandi and for many it's more tolerable. I've had an undetectable PSA on Zytiga for around 7 months now.
I pray that God will give you strength. You are doing great by trying to keeping him as comfortable as possible. I can imagine it must be very difficult for you to see him like this but, you are not alone God is with both of you. I know we don't understand a lot of things but we just have to trust, no matter what. I send you a hug🙏💛
Prayers flowing that the Xtandi has benefits for your husband.
Prayers for your husband...may God watch over you and him... for his appetite, you may try megace 800 mg suspension for appetite or marinol suppositories to help get him eating.....some Boost with protein powder and some ice cream in a shake for fats, protein, calories and energy....if he is too weak to walk, then get him to sit up as long as possible...good luck....

I have most of this for him. Thank you so much.
Prayers 🙏
So very sorry to hear this. I am hoping and praying that today will be a better day for both you and your husband.
Powerful energy for healing and comfort has been directed your way.
All the best to you and your husband.
You will probably have very good results with xtandi. Most seem to. Six months ago I started xtandi with a psa of 1400 ( probably 1600 when I took the first dose ) , within one month my psa fell to 48 and now it’s down to 0.2 six months later and still dropping. Many here have had good results with xtandi for several years and many new treatments are currently coming out and lots more in the pipeline of trials. Cheer up and especially cheer up your wounded bird, both of you have good reason for lots of optimism. We are all here pulling for you. Best wishes.
Thank you for your kind words.
You are in my thoughts and I hope that things will definitely be on the way up for both of you.
Clinical Trials are out there...I am now on Xtandi and doing good. Read below about the shakes I make each day..super easy....I do not know where you live but there are many research hospitals spread all of the country...you seek them out ....we can help too.
He's like a wounded bird in the palm of someone's hand. Now that hit a nerve! Remember that God (and us) are on his side.

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement!
Xtandi looks the way to go. (Apalutamide is similar, but may have lesser side effects). When that fails as is likely, daralutamide will be FDA approved and may help. Then onto Lu-177 ligand therapy. A number of new treatments are getting close to starting/ending clinical trials, so its a question of surviving until a more permanent therapy is available.
Thanks for the information. My husband is being released fron the hospital on a bunch of pain meds. They found he has cancer invading his cauda equina (low back) causing him the inabity to urinate and his bowels are not working. He's got a foley cath in right now which has relieved his pain. He is being radiated in the hopes this will shrink the tumor burden in that area. He is tolerating the Xtandi quite well. Only time will tell. This is such a horrible disease! In good health!
Hang in there, we’re pulling for you both. ( insert big hug). 💪💪 👍
same here, the pain meds made him crazy. He couldn’t sleep, walking around all night. Wanting more meds and more, in less hours.
How is your husband doing? My dad was on Xtandi but took himself off of it because he was losing so much weight. His appetite and energy improved. After a blood transfusion, he will start back on half the dose that he was taking when he first started.
Hidden, your words are exactly mine at this point. My husband is suffering with this. It was ok and now it’s so not good! I do t know what to do, I fear I am watching him slowly die. my beautiful man, just gone. He’s so thin and really can’t even smile any more. This is no way to live. I wake up crying and go to bed crying. I need to help him.
sorry I didn’t even see this was 4 years ago
