Does having bone mets while on Lupron and Zytiga mean castrate resistance?

My father had a bone scan done and it came up clean. 4 days later he had PET/CT scan done and these are the results that came back.

"No metabolically active neoplastic disease. However, sclerotic lesions such as in the thoracolumbar spine, right posterolateral 10 rib and right posterior ilium could represent osseus metastases, although recent bone scan was negative.....Sclerotic lesions scattered skeleton, for instance in the thoracolumbar spine (for instance involing the spinous process of a mid lumbar spine), right posterolateral 10th rib and right posterior ilium without significant uptake."

I'm just speechless right now. His last PSA was less than 0.02, so either he must be castrate resistant or these new lesions are not giving off any PSA.

He didn't have the PET scan before - those might have been there the whole time. I wouldn't give up until there are signs of progression.

When I had a bone scan and CT, they were negative....Not until I had my Axumin scan did they find a 1 and 1/4 cm metastatic lesion on my clavicle--lytic lesion ---and bone scans are not good on picking up lytic lesions... likely those were there the whole time...his PSA says he is doing well...until proven otherwise, believe that for now...

I agree with Tall_Allen. I've had bone mets for over a year and a half with minimum progression. And no pain. Watch it but don't obsess about it. Remember, attitude is everything. And never give up.

I have Mets that showed up on CT scan but not bone scan. RO said some bone scans don’t show smaller spots.
