Weight loss with Xtandi post orchiectomy? Ideas?

For awhile my normally thin (165 lb) husband gained a belly and we bought bigger jeans.

Now after being on Xtandi 15 months and having an orchiectomy a year ago, he has lost 20 lb in the last few months. He can't hold up the new 30 x 32 thin cut slim jeans. He drinks Ensure and I am feeding him unhealthy foods just to fatten him up. He is eating breakfast which he never wanted before. So far efforts are not working.

His MO said it was important for him to keep strong as his next treatment might be chemo but the MO offered no ideas on weight gain.

Anyone?

If he is not getting enough protein, you may wish to add Muscle tech whey protein which has several hundred calories--added to almond milk--also, almond butter is about 180 cals per 2 tablespoons... both healthy choices...

Is medical marijuana legal in your state? If not, Marinol is FDA approved.

Hi, i am 13 months on Xtandi. The end of november this year i woke up and threw up. Been nauseous on and off ever since. Dont feel like eating alot. So i am also losing weight at a pretty good clip. Just got my blood drawn today and will see my MO tomorrow. I have been in florida for the past 3 months so didnt do any doctoring. I also only take 1/2 dose as full dose pretty much debilitated me. I will post the outcome of my numbers and visit in the future. Ill be following your situation. Best of luck!

My husband is the same as yours and tjc1. He's on Xtandi after Zytiga and it is affecting his appetite and desire for food. I tell him he's gotten much pickier. He works hard to keep his weight up but Xytiga is a tough drug for a lot of guys. Good luck.

My husband is also on donepazil for memory problems and we recently learned from his neurologist that drug causes weight loss in up to 30% of patients. He may have to stop that drug and it is a cautious withdrawal.

I thought I was familiar with donepazil (Aricept) because my mother used it for years and only gained weight as she aged.
