Dad, 80 with PSA of 480. PCa already metastized to bones. Luprolex worked for 3 years but now PSA rose up and became resistant to the treatment. Urologist recommended Xtandi as next level treatment but costs for the medicine here in the PH is exorbitant. Chemo at this time is not a viable option due to age factors. Scheduled for onco visit but would like to hear about about cases of PCa with the same age group as my father.

I am not in my 80s, but I did have a starting PSA in the thousands when I was 65, and a PSA of 95 about 2.4 years ago when my disease became resistant with Lupron alone.
As you continue discussions with the Oncologist, it might be helpful to become familiar with most of the "Standard of Care" treatment options for the disease at this stage. Here's a link to the USA NCCN Guidelines, Chapter 7, which discusses most of them.

Your Dad can ask the doctor about the availability/benefits/risks/costs of each of them, and then decide which might be best for him and his situation. Having a family member along with a second set of ears to listen, ask questions, and to take notes can really help, too.
Good Luck with the up-coming Oncologist appointment! Keep us posted.

No reason that an 80 yo man can't have docetaxel - unless he has other issues.
There are other ADT drugs that are less expensive, Casodex for one. Don't be afraid to speak up to his doctor. Be his advocate, ask questions.
Greeting JoyceR724,
Would you please be kind enough to tell us where your Dad is located? His prior treatment(s)? His doctor(s) name(s)? This info is voluntary and is so we can help you and it can help us. If you wish to respond please respond in a future post and NOT to me. Thank you.
BTW Good you will be meeting with an oncologist.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Hi there! We are located here in Manila, Philippines. Dad is on Luplorex since he was diagnosed with Stage 2 PCA last 2016. It was a good run with Luplorex until we noticed late last year that he is getting this sharp pains on his lower abdomen 2 week after his injection. His urologist is Dr. Michael Gaston over at The Medical City hospital here in Manila.
We havent fully explored that route but probably we are worried of the side effects and whether his body can take it. We just lost our mom last Nov 2018 so its really depressing to yet hurdle another challenge but we gotta do what needs to be done.
There is another "member" here who is in the Philippines His/Her ID is "dvcarola". You may want to message him/her and exchange info.
BTW my wife is Pinay and we have a house in Paranaque Manila. But we live here in the US. most of the time.
My wife attended a good High School "Manila Science" and went to U.P.
