trying to follow the suggestion of several guys here and take Sulforaphane.

I couldnt find any sulforaphane supplement with myrosinase except Jarrow's Broccomax which is out of stock for a long time and doesnt seems to be in the near future.

Any suggestion on any other way to get the supplement ?

Thanks

Years ago, when I realized that BroccoMax was ineffective (it didn't have myrosinase in those days), I turned to broccoli sprouts. Here's what I did. My local supermarket sells the sprouts. I'd buy 4 or more packs at a time. I pureed them to damage as many cells as possible without making the liquid hot. I filled ice cube trays with the puree & froze.

Each morning, I would thaw a cube, add some water & swallow it down.

I stopped doing that when the dark specks appeared in BroccoMax. They didn't put "myrosinase" on the label at first, but a friend was in contact with the company.

Heat destroys myrosinase. Cooked broccoli is useless unless myrosinase is added afterwards. A good source is raw horseradish. Daikon & other radishes are also cruciferous sources of myrosinase. Even so, one must chew carefully so as to damage as many cells as possible.

Is one cube of frozen broccoli sprouts enough per day? There's only about 7 grams... And you need at least 140 grams of broccoli sprouts per day (60mg of sulforaphane). Thanks

Just as well BroccoMax added myrosinase. Much easier now. Thanks! -Patrick

Unfortunately, there are no Broccomax deliveries to Russia. I'll have to chew the sprouts. But I don't know the dosage.

Thanks for your answer!

After seeing research about sulforaphane and cancer, esp. cancer stem cells, I used Jarrow's BroccoMax for about 6 months. When I read about the superior sulforaphane production of broccoli sprouts, I started sprouting my own. The research indicates the max production of sulforaphane is by 2to3-day old sprouts.

I use them in salads, sandwiches, smoothies, and just about anything else I can throw them into. I keep at least two jars going all the time, so that I always have a fresh supply. I uses them at two-day-plus sprout-time, so I rarely need to store them in the fridge or freeze for later. Since you can use them at their "peak" and can get quality organic/non-gmo seeds to sprout, I think home-grown is the only way to go.

Here are a several videos from NutritionFacts on broccoli/broccoli sprouts and several link to the research abstract about the sulforaphane peak for sprouts. Any search will provide a lot of research to explore.

My personal view is that PCa patients should forget the supplements and just grow their own broccoli sprouts for DAILY consumption. But as Mr. Fish has advised, until your digestive track "adjusts" to daily consumption, you WILL at times produce room-clearing gaseous discharges.

The Sprout House website has lots of info for the do-it-yourself sprouter. I buy seeds from several sources and always buy organic/non-GMO. My sprouting jars are simple mason jars, with synthetic window screen tops held in place by no-rust retainer rings made by cutting out center of nut-butter jar tops. (The standard metal ones work just fine.) I do use filtered water that sits overnight (to gas off chlorination) for the initial soak and daily rinses as it provides a more neutral environment for the sprouts. I've been at it for over a year and it is now a part of my daily routine.

I do have a relative who got into it big time, with a multi-layered sprouter, etc., but he had such a bad time with the "gas effects", that his wife made him give it up. (You can only blame so much on the dog!) If you have any specific questions, message me and I'll try to answer. Eat Sprouts, Beat Cancer, & Be Well - cujoe

you don't have to buy expensive fermented sauerkraut from AMZN. It's very easy and cheap to make delicious fermented sauerkraut yourself. Lots of youtube videos. Equipment: a large mason jar,a head of cabbage, salt and dill spice, and and your hands to massage the cabbage until ready to put in the mason jar. at room temp for a few days.

Hi Dorke. Only read this recently and you have probably solved your challenge by now but you can get a high quality freeze dried broccoli sprout powder capsule from dnafood.co.nz. not sure what the freight cost is to US asuing that your base. Check it out. It was reccommended by my maverick GP from whom I get IV vit C. Also growing my own sprouts too so get double dose. Cheers. Ross
