Docetaxil without Prednisone

Quick question: My husband is getting 6 cycles of Docetaxil WITHOUT Prednisone. His Medical Oncologist hasn't seen conclusive benefits. Anyone else out there getting Docetaxil without Prednisone???? Your thoughts???

I have already taken 4 cycles of Docetaxel (taxotere) thus far without Prednisone.

My MO wants me to go to 10/12 cycles provided a) I can tolerate the chemo well b) it is working well judging from PSA levels.

So far I have had no problems whatsoever.

I think the reason he did not prescribe prednisone is because I am diabetic and prednisone raises blood sugar levels.

As far as I can tell, the only reason they ever gave it with prednisone was to help prevent some side effects. There is probably a small effect on the cancer that disappears quickly.

My husband was given Dexamethasone with his chemo
