Trying to educate my MO on how to order a Ultrasensitive PSA test. They keep calling it PSA Total using CPT code 84153.

Any suggestions???

Thanks

Thanks

For Quest it's called post prostatectomy PSA, or something like that.

Ran..... why do you need ultra sensitive testing for PSA? I only ask because this test usually serves as a basis for unwarranted worry to the average person.

I spent 10 years with Dr. Myers and he taught me to use the ultrasensitive test to watch for PSA trends and not wait for the trend to show in a older Total PSA Test . Many years ago while using the Total PSA Test my PSA shot up to 12 in three months. Using the ultrasensitive test this trend may have appeared early. A rise in PSA needs to be attacked early and beaten down.

OK thanks. I had no need as my PSA &T tests were every 30 days from March 2003 until February 2006. Then I went on three month testing until October 2111. Then every two months until October 2014. Then every 120 days until March 2018. Then I started every 180 days.
