New FDA APPROVED DRUG
Doug,
You may be thinking of larotrectinib. It is apparently useful for various cancers that happen to have a specific mutation in their DNA. Only a relatively small number of cancer patients have this mutation and I don't know if many or any prostate cancer patients do. The drug is not a cure. However it produces remissions in a majority of patients, with the extent and duration of the remission varying from patient to patient.
Here's an article about it published by Memorial Sloan-Kettering:

This drug is a little pricey..."Vitrakvi will have a wholesale acquisition cost of $32,800 a month for a 30-day supply of 100 milligram capsules. That's $393,600 annually...But fear not ! Bayer says they will refund your money if it doesn't work ! That's a step in the right direction..
